Fitness XL- Your training routine

Perhaps not. But I imagine every class is more or less the same, they go through the same poses. The wee Asian one was a cracker. The other older one was a bit chubby and not a good advert for yoga at all.
That shouting one sounds rubbish, not like anything I ever did. I did hot ashtanga in London. Felt great after it. Then did a month of bikram in Limerick, not as good at all. After ashtanga all the little niggles and tightnesses loosened out, the bikram made me feel more tense if anything. Some great views though.

Have a decent physio in Limerick and another guy who is a physical therapist who is very good too, the second guy especially will put you through the ringer but it’ll sort you out.
I’ve been wanting to try Bikram for a while, kid-would I be better off going to a normal yoga class first to get some of the poses right before doing it in a furnace?

From my experience I wouldn’t recommend bikram at all, do ashtanga, I found it much more beneficial. Bikram is a balls too because even if you take a cold shower you’ll still be sweating after it. Also, be prepared to go topless in front of a mirrored room of mostly birds. You may think you’ll keep the tshirt on but after a while it’ll be well soaked through and you’ll be peeling it off. But to answer your question, if you’re any bit flexible fire ahead with it if you want, you can always do the easy version of the poses.

To be honest Bikram sounds horrible but a few people have recommended it to me who have had back issues. I’m reasonably flexible through having to do 10-15 minutes of stretches every morning but I’m looking to kick on to get as flexible as possible. I’ll look into Ashtanga.

I’d say to get the most out of it you’d want to be doing yoga a few times a week. It’s fierce expensive though. Ashtanga is the more exercise based one and I felt great after doing it. Don’t do a beginners level class cause its pointless.

You never came across as the kind of lad who’d pay for it… but carry on I suppose.

Ashtanga not for me so I’d say-I’m all about the flexibility and the pursuit of a zen like peace of mind.

Ashtanga is hard work alright. A lot of yoga places have offers for first month - go to as many classes as you want.

Are you Dublin based - there is a hot yoga deal on group on today - drury street - 8 classes for 29 euro

I’m still a bit sore from it, is that normal? I forgot to ask, but I take it I should be fine to commence running today?

I love the way everyone here has the best physio, geniuses of physios. I wonder where all the physios who graduate at the bottom of the class end up.

I’ve gone through a fair few duds, pal. Fuckers that just want to keep you coming back week in week out… I went to this fella sheerly out of convenience a few years back and it worked out well. I’ll happily share him with you tho, mate.

No thanks mate, I have a great physio. She’s the best, a genius.

There is a lot to be said for marrying a Sports Therapist.

Lads, here is a site i use. You pay a set fee (18$a month i think) and use it as often as you like. The good lady has a subcription and it’s fantastic. You choose your level, length of class, duration etc. You can do ones specific for glutes, hammers, your menstrual cycle, whatever. Think they do a free trial. Have a look.

I remember when I got it done I couldn’t get out of the car after a half hour drive.

I was told to leave it 48 hours. But to keep stretching.

Good resource, pal. Judging by their interaction on this thread yesterday, @Horsebox and @glasagusban might be interested in a class specific for their menstrual cycles. Two fannies.

very good mate

Please pass on any info you have, pal-I have a very heavy flow so keep that in mind.

Goes without saying, everything related to @Bandage is very heavy.

Go easy on @glasagusban
He only broke his hymen a few weeks ago so is vulnerable enough
