Football Manager

How does this work, so it basically has the look and feel of Championship manager 98/99 but with all modern up to date database? You’re losing the stuff like training etc and tactics be more rudimentary, but otherwise is it better than playing with the modern features? Would probably make progressing the game much faster.

Whose Will Smallbone by the way?

Yeah it’s just the 1998/99 database in the current game form. A modern version of it. It seems the likes of Wayne Rooney come through as the game progresses.

Will Smallbone is a young 22 year old of Irish parentage who was born and raised in England. He’s one of the stronger players in our U21 team currently. Threw him in at CAM in game as I build a young side. I haven’t taken a plunge on any LOI players like Jack Byrne yet which will disappoint the likes of TSG.
There’s a young Irish lad called Kevin Zefi getting a run as a sub at Inter Milan on FM at the minute. I haven’t heard anything of the Heffernan chap at AC Milan yet.

So does everyone come through eventually? If Rooney is coming through as a new gen have you the likes of Mbappe and Haaland to come through eventually with same names? I don’t fully understand the concept. If it’s just modern teams and players but using the lay out and features of the 98/99 game I’m sold because it used to be very zappy. If it’s a mish mash between the two eras with players mixing that’s just annoying IMO.

No, it’s the features of the modern game but with all the players replaced with those from the 98/99 season.

I would guess that the regens don’t carry through all the way to Mbappe/Haaland, depends how much detail was put into it; Rooney first played in 2002 so it wouldn’t be that much of a push to have 3/4 years of new players to arrive.

Right I have you. If it was in reverse it’d be more appealing IMO. All the modern players parachuted into the old style game. But if Evan Ferguson is playing then how is it the 98/99 team sheets parachuted into new game?

Oh Evan Ferguson is playing in my actual FM23 game on the PS5. I don’t have that 1998/99 database but it sounds interesting.

Scouts recommended this Chilean 22yr old playing in the MLS. Signed him for 6.5m and sent him on loan to Benfica for a season, goes beastmode there, then he comes back and does this as a 23yr old in the Serie A. Worst part was, I can’t remember which scout recommended him as I’ve 25 of them. They’d be getting the Friday off before the Bank Holiday if I found out.

The mobile version is free through Netflix this year apparently. It’s not coming up for me yet anyway though.

Edit: Apparently it’s out at 5 this evening. Mobile version may be the easier version to play this year. Laptop version feels like an office job at times these days with all the admin tasks.

Lindsey has done more to support grassroots association soccer in Limerick in one trip than most lads on here in a lifetime.

Sounds like an itiration worth purchasing. I’m still on FM22.

Married men :rofl::rofl:

What specifically is the problem? I understand it’s a new (faster) processor they’re using for the first time which I guess allows you to run more leagues than usual? And also they’re doing women’s leagues for the first time, that feels ripe for glitches so maybe they are testing that more.
