Friend of the Forum: Big Mick McCarthy

Big Mick is just a regular 8th place kinda guy

A steady unambitious hand on a tiller of a unambitious second tier club.

I’m booked in for the next two home games.

2 nil up away to Huddersfield, Reading 3 down away to Bournemount. Results stay the same then Ipswich will be back to within 2 of the playoffs.

Huge win today.

We’re edging in on that final playoff spot.

Great atmosphere and the biggest crowd of the season today. We stole it in the end but Doncaster didn’t deserve anything. Hopefully Leicester do us a big favour Monday night.

:clap::clap::clap:

We are one up at home to play off rivals Bournemouth at the moment. As things stand we are in sixth place

Bournemouth level it

2-1 up now. Paul Green with the goal:clap:

Brighton drawing at home to struggling Blackpool as well!

A deflected free kick has levelled it up

The fact that Mick has that team anywhere near the playoffs is a huge credit to the man, because those Ipswich players are muck

Take Paul Anderson & Darryl Murphy out of the side, and it’s a bottom six championship team.

The improvement he’s presided over this season on a limited budget compared to rival clubs is akin to the job Brendan Rodgers has done at Liverpool.

You can’t judge him until artfoley comes on and compares stadium sizes. That might put a bit of context on his achievements.

Losing 1-0 away to Burnley at present. Looks as though the play off dream is over. But it has been a fine season for Ipswich given how little money they have spent on players or wages since McCarthy took over. Punching well above their weight. David McGoldrick and his goals have been a massive loss

It was always going to be a huge struggle without McGoldrick. Played well here today but missing a clinical edge.

Time to put the tractor back in the shed, boys. We’ll be back next season though with renewed vigour and determination.

The Championship is the toughest league in Europe. Mick has built a solid base this season for a real promotion charge next time.

We can only hope that city Chelsea or real don’t come looking for McGoldrick or United for big mick.
