Iād be willing to let these industries fail and see if it has as bad an effect as lads say.
Iāll also be the first to hold my hands up if Iām proven wrong. Cant say fairer than that

We could all save a fortune if we came to an agreement
Some fellas just donāt get it.
Itās not really tax payer money though. The govt is just acting as the collection agency and then giving it back to racing. In a proper system, like almost every other country in the world, racing would handle all the money bet on it, take its own cut out, and give the rest back to betters in winnings. No need for the government to be involved. Oireland and the Brits, and I suppose the Aussies too to a lesser degree, are unique in that they allow the parasites known as bookies who profit off of sports they donāt help to sustain, at least not anywhere near enough.
Is horseracing still getting a disproportionate slice of money bet on other sports, wasnāt that what the FAI were saying recently?
I donāt know how they can claim that per se. The FAI certainly could make the argument that they are entitled to a slice of the action of money bet on LOL and national team games.
Thereās close to $5b bet on horses in Ireland. The amount the govt gives racing is tiny fraction of that.

Thats what the FAI claimed in the report written by a consultant in his shed that contained a whole bunch of inaccuarte information alright
the majority is bet on football, football should get their share
the majority is bet on football, football should get their share
So the FAI should get their share because the EPL have done an amazing job in building a muti billion pound league while the FAI have completely ignored the domestic game? Odd logic to use
You are right that thereās a huge amount bet on football. However the majority would be on English football. I doubt thereās much action on Patās vs Rovers etc.
so oirish horseracing should get its share because people bet on the grand national & Cheltenham?

Should it?
no, it should be banned
Itās not hard to understand mate. They can keep track of how much is bet on what particular race is what particular country and allocate accordingly. Every other country has figured this out.
no, it should be banned
Banning football seems a drastic step. Banning gambling on football would be a much better move.
I own a horse too.
Fuck your mitsubishi Iāve a horse outside
Would anybody bother with horseracing without gambling?
