Further Things That Are Wrong (Part 2)

Sisk are running a design build for 7 nursing homes which will then lease back on a 25 year deal to the state.

They are running it very well compared to the hospital shitshow. Deadlines. Design. Docs. Etc

That decision alone probably doubled the price of the job

And that’s for a bodied bodied person. I remember walking it myself when I was 18. I was bollixed after it.

You’re walking to James’s there, not the Mater. At least James’s has the Luas going through it

There’s a lovely bit of irony in their public transport directions describing the hospital as being a 10 minute drive from a train station

Ah sorry, I thought we were talking about the children’s hospital here.

That’s how a lot of the new schools have been built in the last 20 years isn’t it? BAM build them and then manage them once open while leasing back to the department who eventually take control at some point in the future

Mostly flat anyway

What kind of slow cunt takes 53 minutes to walk 3.8km?

It’s called the Public Works Contract mate.
I haven’t looked massively into the NCH but I would imagine alot of the variations have been vastly inflated by delay (contractor has a fixed daily delay rate which would be thousands per day on a project that size).

There is a very experienced contract lawyer on the board

Old people. Disabled people. Pregnant people. People with young children.

Slow cunts

Fair point on them all

Disability and or street confrontation

as @Mullach_Ide said, its likely a public works contract, which if manipulated in the right way, can be hugely beneficial to the contractor. And none better than the shower of cunts that are BAM. I’ve not heard massive amounts about the project, but what I have heard is that the design and input has been farcical, particularly on the mechanical and electrical side of things. Stories of things being installed, and then when the end user specialist turns up, tells them that there are new systems in place and it all has to be replaced. Or that what they are requesting is way above the standards or requirements.

the other issue is that it was started before it was ready to go, therefore causing delays and changes, which BAM will manipulate to extort a shitload out of it. Probably politically motivated to get it moving quickly. IMO, the location was all wrong anyway. A clusterfuck of a project from start to not yet finished.

Not to forget they had to go to court to get BAM back on site after Covid.

Was BAM in Jackass?

I’ve heard from pretty good authority that most of the blame lies with the shambles of procurement rather than with BAM, with the ice constantly shifting. There are too many ā€œpersonalitiesā€ involved.
