GAA All Star Wars

Agreed. An excellent player usually and was having another fine season but the extent of that hole opening should preclude him from winning an All Star.

Mental stuff.

Close enough there.

The fact that the media are always kissing Waterford’s hole must be worth 2 or 3 extra All Stars to them.

Yeah it’s all those Waterford journalists in the national media alright.

On who?

On poor Brendan you numpty.

Why- All he did was a lift a trophy and give a bland speech in pigeon Irish. If you deserve an Alllstar for that then the world is gone mad.

Agreed. Some lads on here like Fat Pox and Glas dont have a clue about hurling and probably never held a hurley in their life. James Barry has to get one. To suggest Paul Murphy should get one after going walk about in the All Ireland final is ludicrous in the extreme.

Richie Hogan has been nominated as a forward you tool.

Agreed. Barry much more deserving. Saw off allcomers relatively comfortably. Burke and Barrett guaranteed.
I think you had a point a while back. Murphy is a fabulous hurler but not a great defender.

The team will be

I don’t recall Burke or Barry playing corner back, I could be wrong. I’m being pernickity in my selection and only allowing one full back, and Burke beats Barry.

No club in Wexford has produced more All Star representatives than Faythe Harriers.

The All Stars now are essentially an exercise in divvying up the spoils based on three games - semi finals and final. Four obviously this year with a drawn hurling semi and drawn football final.

For its first 30 years of so, the year was looked at in its totality and the merits of representatives from all counties were considered. There were seven counties represented on the first hurling team in 1971 and nine counties on the 1971 football team.

We’ll hardly see the likes again of what happened in 1994 when hurler of the year Brian Whelehan couldn’t get a hurling All Star but John Leahy got one when the only championship action he saw in 1994 was with the Tipperary footballers.

My all star team I can do what I want. A nominated forward still had a better year at midfield than Brendan Maher

That’s like being the smartest kid in the thickos class
