Slight difference between an All Star and hurler of the year, Seamie Callanan scored 9 points from play (0-13) in the AI final, when was that last done? He also scored more than the Waterford team combined in the Munster Final (1-11). Scored 0-08 v Cork and 1-06 v Limerick. Lads saying he had a quiet enough year up to the final!

He was very quiet in the semi final, which was the one occasion where he had to face a real serious full back operator. As an aside, Daithi Burke was the best full back in the country this year and should have been selected at full back.

James Barry was the best full back in the country this year Jeff, he beat all comers.
Ozzie was very quiet in the Munster Final when he was faced with Cathal Barrett.

It was the same last Sunday he caught a few routine catches and was given MOTM while up the field Pa Bourke nearly won the game on his own,media horns the same ones that fawn all over Gleeson.

Were a lot of them scores not from frees? I do think he was quiet enough up to the final. The final performance was unbelievable but it’s a hurler of the year award.

0-04 from play against Cork, 1-01 against Limerick, 1-02 against Waterford, 0-09 against Kilkenny.

I’ve consistently said I disagree with the choice, nothing against Gleeson at all.

There’s a touch of the golden cleric victory speech about @Fagan_ODowd as he struts around the forum tonight. It’s a bit over the top, in your face and immature and it’s reminiscent of Austin Gleeson celebrating winning a sideline cut. I can only imagine the reaction from both of them if the Waterford senior hurling team ever win anything of note. I’d say ODowd was planning to hold it in and wait for the team to claim a significant title but he couldn’t contain himself - he must have been seething after the schadenfreude displayed on TFK when Waterford lost the semi-final replay and he’s been bottling it up since then.
