GAA All Star Wars

Poor Gearoid would be expecting more backing from his fans I would’ve thought. Most of the Galway “fans” have only heard of Joe I suppose

Were you basing Bonnar Maher not having a good year on one game then?

The Galway lads all have their All Ireland medals. All Stars and Hurler of the Year are only fluff.

Clare weren’t at the races this year, complete also rans so I wouldn’t read much more into that than against Westmeath or Offaly.

The Championship begins in Croke Park in August. He was completely anonymous against Galway.

I’d wager he touched the ball more times in the semi final than Joe Canning did in the final. And the reason he was poor was because Gearoid McInerney destroyed him which was my original point

Are you arguing for Bonnar as HOTY?

No I’m arguing that McInerney was as important as Canning in the semi final. Most of the Galway supporters probably couldn’t pick him out of a line up though so they can only talk about Joe

No, well and all as McInerney played in the semi final, he wasn’t as important as Joe. Joe had to lead the forward line and get all the scores over the last 25 minutes. Well and all as a team may be playing back the field, if you don’t have forwards getting the scores it’s all for nought. I can’t recall a forward single handedly dominate a high stakes game like that for a 25 minute spell in a long time. Possibly even since Joe Cooney in the first half of the 1990 final.

He scored 3 points from play mate. Calm down

That’s quite significant when you win by one point.

Yes. I never doubted that. Its not single handedly dominating a high stakes game for 25 minutes in a way you haven’t seen in a long time

This has been a strategic masterclass by the Galway boys, they saw how Seamus got rode last year and they’ve lined it up for Joe. Gearoid wont mind one bit.

Cackie and Fohn will do the right thing from here.

None of the rest of the Galway forward line were showing too much over those last 25 minutes.

Austin was the worthy and rightful winner of the Hurler of the Year award last year just like Joe is this year. Hard luck Seamus. Better luck next year.

He scored three points from play. From what minute onwards did you think he was single handedly controlling the game in a way you hadn’t seen in a long time and I might have a look?

Galway have left nothing to chance.

Austin did nothing against the only good team he played against last year. How does that tie in with your views on this year?

Conor Cooney scored Galway’s 16th point around the 50 minute mark. Joe did all the Galway scoring from there to the finish.
