The best 15 in the country have got all-stars *
second midfielder was a toss up i admit.
You could put multiple players in there who are better, itâs biased towards the teams that get to the semi finals and final.
There is no way you can say the best players all got on it, the best players on the best teams did.
The fact players donât get selected in their position makes it even worse, itâs should be specific if you are looking at the best individual.
Donaghy started two games this year and got one. He deserved it as he won Kerry the AI but the current system allows for things like that. I think the same happened DJ Carey towards the end of his career when he was parachuted in for a semi final/final.
There were calls for Gleeson to be dropped after the Limerick game and he ended up with one.
With respect, my question was aimed at the Hurling selection. No Cork player was within an asses roar of an All Star selection this year.
Thatâs my point. Because they all collectively played shit in one game - an AI semi final - it cost them any chance of an All Star.
How many Tipp players were in line for an All Star on the morning of the semi final? Practically none, played well in the semi final and final(s) and get the most of anyone then as a result.
On the evidence of the Tipp game none of them deserve one.
However up to that game Walsh, Cadogan and Horgan looked nailed on. Walsh had a shocker against Tipp but he was better than McGrath in the rest of the championship IMO.
Ultimately itâs a meaningless debate, I will admit.
Shane McGrath was outstanding from the quarter finals on , the only part that matter. Destroyed Walsh against Cork

Come again?
Callinan, Bonnar & B Maher were well in contention before the semi final. Finally, of course the teams that reach a final will dominate selections. You know, the best teams usually reach AI finals because they have the best players.

You donât say.
Explain then how the eventual champions, who won every competition they entered this year, have less of a representation than the runners-up.

Better panel than the runners up obviously. Look at the numbers they used. Tipp relied on 17/18 throughout the year, KK probably used 24+.

There is a pretty easy explanation if you had a brain
Tipperary always(anecdotal evidence) tend to get more than they deserve due to proliferation of Tipperary journalists. Thatâs my view and Iâm sticking to it.
Munster Champions in 2012 and got none. Paudi Maher and Brendan Maher are the only two that didnât deserve one and Bergin should have been instead of one of them. Barrett was also better than Murphy. People donât seem to understand that these are individual awards
