GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

Murtagh was in charge of Cross in 07.

The point is though that Tony McEntee has been touted as a possible top level inter-county manager based on his success with Crossmaglen. Managing Crossmaglen to two All-Irelands, while obviously a fine achievement, is no guarantee of inter-county management credentials, and could be misleading based on the excellent hand he had to work with there.

The Ulster club football championship must be a doddle if Cross have won so much.
Time for a re-assessment. It’s skewed in the northern teams favour and ensures a handy ride to the semis for Cross every year, obviously.

Or the fact McEntee was one of three management teams to achieve the same fear. The significance of what he achieved dulls in comparison to managers who have taken teams from a low base.

Cross had tradition, structures and players in place for McEntee - just like they have had under any management team since Kernan.

Was someone talking to you?

You are very fast in here but seemed to disappear quickly when hard questions were asked the other day.

Anyway, there was 2 questions. Is it a yes to both? And was it adult?

And, of course any club who is successful is reliant on god structures, vibrant underage and decent coaching. All these things go without saying really and are a long way from unique to Crossmaglen. There are some unbelievable clubs who will near get near Croke Park.

They have a higher success rate in the All Ireland series than Ulster.

Yes

Absolutely every team has that that gets to that level. You are continuing to show spectacular ignorance here.

Cross had excellent players, n0obody questions that, and that’s just the baseline.

Psychologically yes I agree the first is often a big one for various reasons. But all All-Irelands are very hard won.

So what is your experience of it.

What was your input?
Was it coaching or talent? Or what?

And what was your role?

Absolute horseshit.

I don’t see anything particularly remarkable about what he achieved with one of the best run clubs in the country and one of the best playing panels in the country.

He seems to have garnered a big reputation at Cross for what he did there but he hasn’t done to well with Brigids now, has he?

And, same questions as Harry.

Strange how Anthony Cunningham isn’t touted as a possible top level inter-county football manager despite getting Garrycastle to within a whisker of winning an All-Ireland club title.

That’s as good a managerial feat as has been seen in recent years.

I wasn’t getting Cash if that’s what your asking.

He may well go that way at some point.

1 Player, 2 selector
1 All talent, 2 quiet but effective management roles with some talent
2 Laid back entertainer,1 classy wing forward, 1 & 2 inspirational speech giver

Which code do lads prefer being involved with? Hurling or Football?

what has that got to do with anything?

You are acting like someone who doesn’t really have an answer because you have not got a clue and are probably bull shitting.
