wasn’t donal og player manager of a the cloyne senior team when he was still hurling with the cork seniors? was that arrogant?
He trained u16 and Minor teams for years.
And he also only initially helped out. His role grew over 4-5 years. And in the end it went stale
Keep going lads.
Kev
Paidi O’Se took up the West Kerry footballers as player manager in 1984 and he still a Kerry senior footballer. He was a player coach and manager with West Kerry and no coaching experience other than having trained under Mick Dwyer.
They won the county senior championship in 1984 for the first time in about 40 and retained it the following year.
was that arrogance, confidence, ambition on Paidi’s behalf?
Ooooft
but he was training his team mates , shefflin managing his team mates seems to be an issue in your argument?
Yes its one issue. And it was an issue for cloyne when donal Og started doing too much.
But critically he had plenty coaching experience
Shefflin has been coaching underage in the club since at least 2014. And he did a lot of coaching when not officially part of management set ups too.
I see Ciaran Carey has made a massive step up in management. A real high level appointment.
The Laois Intermediate Championship is where its at. Who is the idiot who reckons this is worth paying himself and Foley to travel?
He’s already closer to the mountain top than he ever was as a player.
Are Slieve Bloom a club in their own right or are they an amalgamation?
That’s some drop off.
Their own club at present, despite any number of temporary amalgamations in the past. This is out of left field.
Can’t place them. Are they up Camross direction?
That’s more than a little strange. Carey & Foley did reasonably okay with Kerry, all things considered. Did pretty well with Patrickswell. Surely there are a number of senior clubs in Limerick, and surrounding counties that would go for them?
Even if they are getting a nice bit of money, it’s still a little odd.
I’d say they’ll hit every pub and pedestrian between Limerick and Leix
Mountrath
In fairnes you would be in Mountrath faster than half the clubs in West Limerick. Also there might be a chance of training a half decent hurler in Laois.
On the way to Clonaslee/Offaly from Mountrath, mountain country. This move would be a little strange.
