A rich man’s Tomás O’Flatharta.
He’ll do well with them.
He did well with a young talented Tipp panel tbf
They would have won the Tall Tin Cup only for the brainfart tackle by that midfielder
I dont think even Laverty will convince “Genie” or any of the other Branagan’s to commit.
I expect the following to get call ups.
Bobo Kane, Ryan McEvoy, Miceal Rooney, Anthony Morgan, Dilly Ward, Johnson brothers x3, Ceilum Doherty. Possibly some of the young subs too.
In fairness while they played terribly for much of the Club Final, you cant fluke a Club All Ireland. They handed out a few hammerings in Ulster and beat Glen fair and square.
Gutless cunts
Genie is a complex character by all accounts.
He gave a great interview a few months back saying he spends a couple of months of the year over on some mountain in Scotland minding sheep by himself. Sleeping in a caravan. It sounds like something from the 1700’s
A Walter Mitty type
It is said that there is no way any Kilcoo fella would dare turn down a request from Laverty, whatever he says is the law. 3 of the lads you named there were with Down this year, the 3 Johnstons have played before, and Ward and Morgan were the midfield pairing Kilcoo were trying to hide at club level so I can’t see them being much of an addition at county level. Kilcoo were a well drilled and balanced team, but other than Jerome Johnston and McAvoy they didn’t have any great quality footballers.
The best hope is Laverty gets the best out of what the rest of the county has to offer, it won’t be any big uplift from Kilcoo lads that will change the fortunes.
Well then “Genie”, and Daryl Branagan will surely be there too.
You can make progress fairly quickly with a bit of Discipline, Organisation and Work Ethic so you could easily see Down back competing fairly soon.
Biggest problem is Laverty is still playing for Kilcoo and a deep club run again won’t make things easy to hit the ground running with Down.
Genie doesn’t have the bottle for inter-county. But he’s made it acceptable to wear tights in a match, so he’ll always have a place in history.
I dream of ‘genie’ (lining out for down)
Great to see lads putting their club before a crap county team. I am surprised more dont do it. Sure weren’t all the Down playere pissed on a training camp 2 weeks before championship. Wee James lucky to be gone.
I could see the forum throwing its weight behind Down next year with Genie flying down wing in his tracksuit bottoms.
I have a sneaky feeling that the mercurial and opinionated Genie isn’t the kind of lad forumites are that anxious to get behind. I happen to think that a Down 15 without him might attract some support but he’s a bit of a spoofer actually.
AU contraire a few of the usual suspects will see the heave v Jeany Genie and decide he’s a cause worth supporting to be awkward
I won’t name them as they’ll become apparent soon
As long as he doesn’t pose topless on the beach in his tracksuit bottoms he’ll be fine on here.
Jeanie will do fuck all
Genie is much more Ziggy Sawdust than Ziggy Stardust.
Who will Davy bring in as coach now that Saoirse Bulfin is gone to meath. He was promoted from coach to Manager of Meath today.
