GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread

It’s a big money game now

Is Seán Óg any good?

‘Training referee’ is a new one to me,

Surely you Limerick lads invented it?

We wouldn’t use any ref in the training matches.

No ref and no ball. Last man standing declared the winner

2 goalkeeping coaches seems excessive

Someone has to collect the balls from behind the goals, I suppose.

Senior Intercounty Teams are paying €5,000+ for Performance Analysis (aside from their own analyst) from external data providers (personal knowledge of this) and often €5,000+ for Fitness Analysis. Clubs even at Junior Level are paying over half of that amount to try and progress/stay ahead of the pack

It’s just the way it is now and teams that aren’t doing it are wasting their time now

Data is the new oil.

Haha yes!

Flesh that out for me.

Sorry Mr XG but that’s absolute nonsense. I’ll expand later.

Ok so maybe clubs that you don’t know/aren’t involved with?

Pretty much like in most sports - if some teams start doing something that gives them a potential edge, everyone starts doing it or you lag behind

We’d be higher than junior level and one of the players mammies does the stats.

Look - I didn’t say all teams are doing it in fairness (if I did say that I didn’t mean to)

Just saying that if you’re not now in this day and age, it’s a serious error

There’s a massive difference now between some miserable ‘stats’ with a pen and paper etc. and comprehensive reports

Moneyball fucked it for everybody

Not sure what the equivalent to ‘get stuck in’ in baseball was, but ya they’ve gone beyond that now

How much do you charge?
