There’s hope for us all, thats for sure. That boat should have been left on dry land.
he obviously sees waterford in a munster final
from rte.ie
Davy Fitzgerald is expected to continue as Waterford hurling manager, with the decision set to be ratified on Monday night.
Waterford County board will meet and it is thought that the decision to give Fitzgerald a second year in charge will be finalized.
The former Clare goalkeeper replaced Justin McCarthy as Waterford boss last June.
Waterford are due to meet McCarthy’s new side Limerick in next year’s Championship and Fitzgerald is already looking ahead to the game.
'It will be a very hard game for Waterford, whoever is in charge of them.
'Limerick will be unhappy with the way they played last year and with Justin as manager they will have added motivation.
'Justin will certainly want to get a big performance out of them because he left Waterford in controversial circumstances.
‘But Waterford lost to Limerick in an All-Ireland semi-final last year, so they have plenty of motivation.’
He added: ‘The Waterford-Limerick match is going to be huge and it will be a sell-out wherever it’s played.’
Loughnane got the chop tonight lads.
Nice one.
And Davy Fitz was officially ratified for another 2 years in Waterford.

I’m in Sasana, what’s your source on this?

Irish Times website Yeatsie, lost a vote 28 to 26.
disapointed for gerlock…but i suppose it was fairly inevitable…don’t think that he is solely to blame for galway not being at the business end of the championship for the last two years…the players need to take a good hard look at themselves and see if they have the temperment and stomach for the battle when the heat is on…i think that it is missing in a lot of them…don’t think that michael bond will do much better…
I really thought Lockie would put steel into Galway, but the opposite occured. They looked flakier than ever this season. In all honesty I think he would have suited mullockers like ourselves better than Galway.
What will he do now Puke? Has he ever taken a club team in Clare?
i would say that gerlock will be back in the sunday game studio next may…he hadn’t managed a team since he left clare in 2000 apart from the primary school where he is principal…I think gerlock gets a lot of stick but he is an absolute gent in person and is stone mad about hurling but his coaching days are over…
I like him myself Puke, though some people in Limerick don’t. I like the auld carry-on out of him. He is a gent in public too, my old man had good banter with him in Ennis one day and said he was sound out. My old man was asking him when he was coming to manage our degenerates in Limerick…
Typical ineptitude from TV3 there, they were talking about Michael Bond yet they show a file picture of Pat Fleury from about 10 years ago…
Aforementioned Irish Times website article. What’s Michael Bond been up to in recent years? That’s quite a managerial team of Galway legends he’s said to be proposing.
Loughnane sacked as Galway manager
GAA : Ger Loughnane was sacked as Galway senior hurling manager this evening when the county board delegates voted 28 to 26 against the Clare man staying on after two years in the post.
The meeting took place at the Raheen Woods Hotel in Athenry but Loughnane was not present to learn his fate firsthand.
Loughnane was on a three-year term with the Tribesmen but he sensationally said when first appointed to the role that he would walk away after two years if he failed to deliver Galway’s first All-Ireland title.
He then suggested he might step down after this year’s championship loss to Cork but U-turned and made it clear he wished to stay on.
Delegates and officers decided to hold the ratification process by secret vote and county board officers Frank Larkin, Bernie O’Connor and Michael Monaghan could be seen recounting the votes several times given how tight the outcome was.
Galway will begin the process of finding Loughnane’s replacement with Michael Bond, who led Offaly to All-Ireland success in 1998, declaring his interest in a team that includes Joe Cooney, Michael Coleman and Steve Mahon.
Jimmy Heverin, who has led Portumna to two All-Ireland club titles in the past three years, has teamed up with former Galway hurler Anthony Cunningham as part of an alternative team.

yeah he is the full solid finest but I can understand why people from outside clare wouldn’t have much time for him as he can come acroos a bit strong, similar enough to davy fitz…but he was superb at mind games and deflecting the media attention away from the players when he was in his pomp with clare…I would say it would have been some experience to have hurled under him in the mid 90’s…
Ger will be staying on the Sunday Game; but not in the Studio.
One last go to give two fingers to Cody. Thats what he wants.
Interesting stuff with Luke Dempsey, former Westmeath manager, on Newstalk there. He said he was in for the Meath job, did all the interviews with the 5-man selection committee, was informed he was the successful candidate and was going to be ratified at the county board meeting last night.
Then he was contacted again to say that they were going to hold off on making any announcement as 2 of the committee members felt that the selection process shouldn’t be finalised yet and that other options should to be considered also.
However, he was informed that he’d more than likely still be offered the job after all this! Dempsey has now pulled out of the running for the job as a result - he feels it’s simply a matter of Meath being too chicken to appoint someone from Westmeath, a county they’d have historically considered inferior to them.
That is an absolute joke in fairness.
Are all county board officials countrywide utter clowns?
I’d heard Luke was a lock from inside the board, seem you may be right bandage. Harsh on Luke considering he’s barely even a Westie.

There’s talk of him going to Carlow now. The Meath board were always strange when it came to managers. Think they got so used to Boylan that they weren’t used to dealing with anyone else.
Luke has links in Carlow, Laois and Westmeath, he’d be home anywhere.
Has Loughnane said anything in public since he got the bullet? Its a pity, but jesus it was stupid to say at the start that he’d leave after two years if they hadn’t won an AI.
well technically that is not what he said…i believe he said that if galwaydon’t win an all ireland in 2 years then his would be a failure…
