GAA Managerial Merrygoround Thread
I called it about McGeeney, cheers buddy

Laois lost to Louth Longford and Wexford in recent years in Leinster, all thing being equal O Flathartha is the level we’re at in attracting big names without big money behind it.

Laois is a hurling county anyway
Edit: ratified, not appointed.
Never hire your successor

McGeeney has been added to the Armagh backroom team as Grimleys no 2.

Never
appoint your successor.

Wtf?

Its plain to see that McGeeney has finally realised that he is a no 2, unprepared for the role of leading and better suited to sitting quietly in the background.

He did as well as he could have with the bunch of players he had in Kildare.

He should be setting his sights higher than that.

Ah farmer, spot the fucking sacasm, McGeeney is a born leader. Safe to say Grimley had this one forced on him you’d imagine, of course he gets on with McGeeney from their dealings in the past, but no way do you want an alpha like McGeeney fuming quietly in the corner of a dressing room. Davis as S&C coach is a good addition as well. With Stevie over the U21’s there might be hope for Armagh yet.

Confirmed.

Stevie McDonnell? Jaysus no.

Maybe Armagh have made the sensible move of having a successor and it’s the way they want it for continuity.

Armagh looked decent when they played us earlier in the summer. They may need to look at their point taking - we were depleted and we held them to 0-13.

 Yes but if they took points instead of goals they would have had more than 20 which isn’t bad

Any updates on next Waterford or limerick hurling managers?

Waterford - 61 days and counting
Limerick - 31 days as counting
Offaly - 43 days and counting

Justin McCarthy is going to do both.

Is Donal Og in line for one of them?

Wonder if any of the Kilkenny greats have a managerial ambition?

Donal Óg is waiting for Frank to die.

Has anyone asked @Canice yet?

Michael Duignan turned down Offaly job.

Could you blame him?

They only have to beat Kilkenny away, then Galway and Dublin* to win Leinster. Should be easily done, especially considering they’ve barely won 2 underage matches in a row for about a decade.

*or Laois

Danny Owens the main contender here?
