Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

First and foremost I hope you settled well in the sound of France.

Ya August was always traditionally a holiday month. You’d a chance to earn a few quid before heading back to college over the early summer months.

Above all else though they have to rip the inter county seasons into bits. It’s a mix of horrendous scheduling and woeful formats.

These cannot be allowed to continue.

Nonsense. More teams training on the same pitches in smaller windows as the evenings shorten does not make for a good surface.

Are we counting alcohol as a drug? Otherwise that stat is exaggerated.

Anyone with any real alternatives here? I think @peddlerscross came up with something before?
Remember it takes 12-15 weeks to get club championships played in dual counties like Wexford/Tipp/Cork.

Main thing is push the whole season back 2/3 weeks and a fortnight between hurling & football finals.

It isn’t fair asking dual clubs to compete every second week or two weeks on and two weeks off. It gives the one code teams a huge advantage and invariably one code will lose out over time which seems to be always hurling for whatever reason.

Of course some folk supported the inter county season increasing for whatever reason so maybe they have the answer.

The first thing that has to be done is the inter county season shortened and the load of games reduced to free up weeks for the clubs.

The Dublin v Galway football quarter final this year was a classic of the ‘may as well not have been played’ genre.

I’m sure you will be able to come up with a most definitive list though.

You’re very naive if you believe that…1 in 2 might be an exaggeration but it is everywhere

You’re either in the loop or out of the loop and fellas will go to great lengths not to let “the sensible fellas” find out

By Saturday the split season headcases will be desperately defending drug use at electric picnic on here

It’s awful that club games are being played in August because of the split season. This used never happen before.

Gonna be some amount of club jerseys at the picnic this year. Club players have never had it better really.

There are club games being called off because of Electric Picnic now.

That used never happen before.

Electric Picnic used to be on All Ireland Final weekend, so has always clashed with club championships.

No club games called off in Laois because of EP. Not a single one.

You can’t call off what you don’t fix…

Why would you fix a game for the weekend of EP?

Why would you not count alcohol as a drug? Easily the most damaging from the point of view of trying to play sport as well as the worst under probably every other metric of the commonly taken drugs

Correct yes.

Damn you EP,there was never a club game called off till you arrived.Damn you to hell
