The GAA need to rebrand as MCD.
Grand day for an All-Ireland hurling final.
Sunday September 1st down the years:
1935: Lory âLowryâ Meagherâs Kilkenny beat Mick Mackeyâs Limerick by one point to win the All-Ireland hurling final.
1940: Mick Mackeyâs Limerick defeat Kilkenny by 6 points to win their last All-Ireland for 33 years.
1946: Christy Ringâs Cork return to All-Ireland glory by sticking seven goals past Kilkenny to win the All-Ireland by nine points in a ten goal thriller.
1957: Kilkenny edge out Waterford by an agonising one point on a 4-10 to 3-12 scoreline. English actor John Gregson marches in the parade filming âRooneyâ.
1963: Kilkenny once again edge out Waterford by three points in a ten goal thriller.
1968: The human wrecking ball Tony Doran levels Tipperary in the second half after Mick Roche had almost levelled Wexford in the first.
1974: Kilkenny gain revenge for 1973 by clipping Limerick.
1985: Offaly win their second All-Ireland title beating Galway after a pre-match puckaround at the back of the Kilkenny Design Centre off Nassau Street.
1991: Babsâ Tipp team finish all doubts about their greatness by beating Kilkenny.
1996: 14 man Wexford dance at the crossroads.
2002: Ray Cosgrove hits the post and orange is the colour at Croke Park.
2013: Dublin overpower Kerry in the Definitely Maybe of Gaelic football matches.
2019: Kerry put Dublinâs five in a row on ice.
Sunday September 1st is perhaps the most storied GAA date of all.
2024: Todayâs All-Ireland final double bill is Celtic v Rangers followed by Manchester United v Liverpool.
Another gobshite who DOESNâT GET IT.
Imagine the FAI saying âwho cares about the senior menâs national team, the game down the local pitch is the best of association football. Iâm sick of people complaining about Ireland losing to Luxembourg, why arenât these people up the Fifteen Acres watching the United Churches League? Thatâs where itâs at.â
Was there some kind of realignment in 2002 that the Dublin-Armagh game was on 1/9? I remember the game but didnât realise the date it was on.
When the back door came into hurling in 1997 the All-Ireland finals moved to the second and fourth Sundays in September as opposed to the first and third Sundays.
The GAA reverted to the first and third Sundays in 2006 and this largely remained the case up to and including 2017, with the exception of 2012 and 2013.
There hasnât been an All-Ireland hurling final on September 1st since 1996. Every other date from the 2nd to the 14th has had one since then.
Non-replay All-Ireland football semi-finals were played in September in:
2001 (September 2nd)
2002 (1st)
2005 (4th)
2012 (2nd)
2013 (1st)
Im not saying I necessarily disagree with you but it is a bit different though. Superstars like David Connolly and will smallbone arenât playing in the United churches league but David Clifford and Tony Kelly are playing the club matches.
TG4 applying to GAA for the rights to show senior hurling and football games that are on Saturdays. Rte/GAAGO to get first dibs but TG4 will show Joe Mc and Tailteann if they can also. A national treasure they are.
I wonder what the ratings were for Dublin v Galway in the football compared to the Kilkenny v tipp minor hurling game that Saturday evening.
Tis lucky theyâre free to air or lads would be watching their content on a dodgy box as well
NĂl a fhios agam conas a dhĂ©anann siad Ă©.

Was it @Arthur who said the structure was perfect and it excited the players and fans?
Brilliant delighted to see theyâve kept it. Itâs the perfect format. Obviously all the whingey Joe Duffy style dopes want to get rid of it as a knee jerk negative reaction.
Where the fuck is he getting this 87% from?87% of journalists maybe.
lol
Wreckers. Miserable wreckers.
First played in 1925. The worldâs finest pre-season sporting competition. They couldnât even give it its centenary celebrations.
And so many people would have celebrated that centenary. Celebrated it in the most life-affirming way. President Higgins had the letter written and the cheque made out.
A sad moment for true Ulster Gaels like you, me, @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy, @Cicero_Dandi, @Il_Bomber_Destro, @Nembo_Kid, Mickey Harte, Peter Robinson, and the Most Reverend Dr. Patrick McKenna himself.
Rest in POWER, Most Reverend Dr. McKenna Cup.
That was some evisceration of the split season zealots by Nicky English in the Paper of Record on Saturday cc @ChairmanDan @BruidheanChaorthainn

If Nicky isnt happy lads, weâre doing something very very wrong.
Anyone know who the 87% of counties are?
