Gaa split season, killing Meath football since 2011

Its surely Errigalā€™s year.

Pomeroy and Carrickmore are fantastic grounds too.

I hope RTE show one of these blockbuster games but theyā€™ll probably pick the Limerick County final in front of 2 men and a dog as their Saturday night fixture.

Tipp final last year had 4,000 i believe. Pathetic attendance for a proper hurling county.

The drawn game had about 12k

Ah come here, the 2 games combined hadnt 10k.

There were 12,000 at the first game.

Donā€™t know why the replay was so poorly attended

To be fair RTE did show one of Dromoreā€™s matches live last year, I think it was the semi-final.

No way was their 12k at first game.

There was. The new stand was packed and there was another 3/4 thousand in the old stand.

400 adult teams in Cork flat out yet Joe high stool not happy along with greedy pundits.

The GAA is losing out to other sports by having all itā€™s players playing games apparently

Was down at the pitch in the sunshine yesterday evening and every young lad there was copying Clifford and Walsh after Sundays game. Kids were often finished for the year before the final was played in late September, instead now they have 8 weeks of good weather to copy what their idols were doing. Canā€™t beat that type of promotion of the game for kids.

The klaxons have been sounded for the company men.

David Moran in favour of the split season.

Spoke to two inter county players who were subs / panelistā€™s and they are totally disillusioned with the whole thing. Havenā€™t played a meaningful game this year and as they are facing in to final year of college there
Only chance of a holiday is January where theyā€™ll probably lose out on their places on a county panel if they head away.

Spoke to another lad from tipp and said heā€™s retiring. Heā€™s a primary school teacher and basically said he has a choice of a ten holiday with his Mrs or sticking around to play a few club games. He said most of team mates felt the exact same.

Iā€™m sure the fellas on here will be delighted with what is happening on the ground.

All that had to happen was for the inter
County season to be shortened but lads couldnā€™t live without their endless leagues and round robins.

The clubs had to be destroyed.

The Waterford senior hurling championship gets under way on Friday night. Just the 68 days unfettered access by the clubs to their players and preparation time since Waterford wrapped up their championship campaign on 22 May.

If your primacy school teacher in Waterford you still get no chance of a summer holiday.

Thereā€™ll be nobody left playing club gaa in a few years while the inter county season will be sort of semi professional league everyone plays each other ten times a year.
