Crusties v Hipsters

A trip to Geneva would be nice

Is there anyway for us to qualify for Europe by virtue of making the final, i.e are Pats likely to have qualified anyway?

The top team in the Premier Division currently qualifies for the UEFA Champions League first qualifying round. The second-placed and third placed-teams and winners of the FAI Cup qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League first qualifying round

Pats havent been great recently

Galway bay brewery will be expecting a bumper weekend

Bohs are hipsters now? Galway loves a good bandwagon. Some rise though whatā€™s the cause

Can anyone explain the sudden rise in fortunes

Comer Group bankrolling the enterprise. Simples.

Well thatā€™s acceptable in soccer so full steam ahead. Was it new signings so? Iā€™m a lapsed Catholic in relation to them

The Comers arenā€™t fully financing things just yet. The takeover hasnā€™t gone through even though itā€™s been given the go ahead from the co-op late last year. They are definitely putting money in but thereā€™s been a big boost in attendances since Covid which has also helped bring in additional funding. I think theyā€™ve nearly trebled the average attendance over 4 years. The big risk with the Comers is that theyā€™ve made such a fuck of the county that theyā€™re never getting that Academy in Athenry built so they could easily throw the toys out of the pram at some point.

This year has probably been a combination of a big change in tactics from Caulfield, bringing in Ollie Horgan who lads would run through walls for, disappointing signings from previous seasons delivering in a big way like Dave Hurley, new signings like Brendan Clarke and Vinny Borden raising the standards, the continuing renaissance of Stephen Walsh as a striker and finally probably a lower standard of competitors than Shels and Cork City in the past two years.

Hurley is unrecognisable from the player he was last year. Some turnaround.

Iā€™ve not seen anything like it in a long time. Thereā€™ll be plenty of Premier Division clubs taking notice.

Still canā€™t run though

Doesnā€™t need to really. Borden does all the running for Hurley and McCormack. Hurley set pieces and scoring threat this season is far beyond anything Iā€™ve seen in my 20ish years going to Terryland.

GUFC have put together a fantastic ticket sale strategy to limit both sunshiner and Bohs cunts attending the semi-final.

New fans are the enemy :man_shrugging:t2:

New fans that werenā€™t at the Dundalk match for whatever reason. Thereā€™s less than 4k tickets available for home supporters.

Can new fans not find a way to attend one of potentially two chances next week to see their local side get a guard of honour while also securing tickets to the biggest home game in well over a decade? If they canā€™t they donā€™t deserve a ticket.
