Some posters looking very silly today after yesterday’s game
I stand by my views - Galway noticeably tired from 50 minutes and started making silly mistakes. Up until then Galway were better team but KK more efficient.
KK took their foot off the gas because thought they were home and hosed. Galway got the goal and a second wind and KK couldn’t ramp it up again.
Both teams have very big men who will tire at end of games.
Who? Name the cunts…

That’s fucking hilarious:D The biffo’s crush for all thinks Kilkenny is actually a bit disturbing at this stage
Regan is a complete spoofer, loudmouth. He gives no insight. Best was last year against Laois when the first part of his analysis was David Collins was no good, couldn’t get on the ball all day. Collins didn’t play one minute.
Think I called out a few already, @Lazarus has made shit of a bunch of them above. Embarrassing comments from the likes of @Mac, @His Holiness Da Dalai Lama, @TheUlteriorMotive, while @Turenne made a hold shoe of himself. @twiceasnice97 generally proved to be a gobshite once again also.
As I said after Laois-Galway, Galway are a poor team. As I said during Kilkenny-Offaly, Kilkenny are a poor team. The first half of yesterday’s game was a dire standard. Exciting stuff after half time but it was Munster championship type fare overall with the hyperbole kicking in because of the dramatic ending. It doesn’t mask the schoolboy mistakes made by both sides throughout. That said, the last two points were wonderful indeed.
So who, based on your viewing this year, is a good team?
I stand by this, they were dead, save 1 man. They had more beaten dockets on the field with 15mins to go that your find on the gnd in ballybrit after the galway plate
Not really sure what to make of that match. We’re better than last year, bar a late surprising late meltdown.
I’m somewhat in agreement with you quality wise. The question is who is the happier this morning. The answer should be neither of them.
Galway should be happy that they salvaged a result, but they still conceded 3-20 in 63mins or so.
Both teams conceded 30 points. You can’t concede that much and expect to be a factor in September.
Personally, I’d be happier with Jackie in the corner and Brian Hogan at 6. I think we are trying to fix something that wasn’t really broken last year.
As I have mentioned before, we conceded small scores last year. Our problem last year was a total lack of production up front. Brian Hogan must be playing awful stuff in training. He was far from impressive in the league. The suggestion I’ve heard in Kilkenny is that our most natural 6 is probably TJ Reid. Tommy in the forwards makes plenty of sense. He can’t really mark any more but he is still a quality hurler. He could become a useful player for us yet this year.
Kilkenny shipped 5 goals. Does that mean Galway should just go for goals from the start the next day? Probably not.
Kilkenny had the match in the bag but for a massive lapse in concentration. 3 goals in 5 minutes, you’d have to think that’s a once off.
If it’s not then Galway have to go after that the next day from the first minute. Kilkenny need to work on penalty saving. Kudos to Buckley for the rugby tackle.
100% the right thing to do in the situation. Kilkenny should have been fouling further out the field to see the game out.
Galway in the same way, can’t afford to let Kilkenny get a run of 1-8 on them. We looked pretty good going forward. Mark Kelly set up a lovely goal for Colin Fennelly.
Richie Hogan as usual did some great things and some head scratching things. His total lack of awareness of a man behind him when in front of goal about 50 yards out was very frustrating. A good position squandered. MOTM was a bit generous I thought.
Replay should be fun. I don’t really expect much from us any more, after a truly amazing last 15 years any wins are a pure bonus.
We’re transitioning into non-contenders quickly enough. In 3 years we’ll be lucky to make semi finals unless we unearth a whole batch of players.
I don’t understand, at that level, when a team are getting success from delivering early ball why they stop doing it!.. watching laois footballers on Saturday and against Dublin and galway hurlers on sunday… the nearer the goal the likes of Kingston and glynn get the ball the more damage they will do… having to run off out to the wing for a low ball is no use to them…
There are no good hurling teams yet this year but Cork are the best of the bunch so far, pal.
True but you wouldn’t have thought that the first day they were out. Yesterday was slower paced than the cork v Clare game but a lot more physical I thought, despite Ryan blowing for nothing at times. If the yardstick is Kilkenny a few years back no one will reach those standards this year.
I have a feeling that KK or Galway would be exposed against the likes of Lehane, Collins, McGrath if they went man to man like yesterday… dropping an extra man back would be vital to reduce space.
However, if done properly and assuming things go your way on the day I wouldn’t rule either Galway or KK out of the running. Remember the naivety of the Cork defense last year? Remember how easily Galway contained Cork in 2012, granted they are a much improved outfit now.
KK hurl far more efficiently than Galway, we exert so much energy to gain so little at times and that will kill us if we continue to do so.
