Yes but he was playing his club hurling with Kilbeacanty in 1980.
Correct. My bad. Heâs from Ballyturn, but played with Kilbecanty.
Barry Kelly was a disgrace yesterday - I just watched it back and the amount of filth he let Tipp off with was unreal. The discipline of Galway in the tackle was night and day compared to Tippâs antics
Here we have Shamie leading, on purpose, with his elbow straight to the defenders head/throat
He followed it up second half by coming in full force with a shoulder to Tuohyâs head that againd didnât draw a card, which is outrageous officiating.
We then have Tipp players swiping at Glynnâs head and again, nothing doing
One of the worst tho and the pic doesnât do it justice was Brendan Maher, he had got involved in a little bit of handbags a few mins previous and his temper was up, but as the Galway player is coming up off the ground he came flying in with his shoulder straight to the head with no other intent than to hurt his man and not even a free given⌠disgusting carry on â
What say you Jackie Cahill / @Bandage ???
Unlike the Tipp lads here, not one of the Galway players moaned about any of the decisions, or lack thereof, and got on with it manfully - No looking to get players sent off or banned. A great hardy bunch are these Galway lads.
Is Ballyturn not Gort parish?
Free count was 17-8, ref was shite for Tipp ⌠you could highlight another ten instances where Galway players did the same
Bull shit, I just watched it back. Galway were far more disciplined in their tackling and when they did foul it wasnât cheap shots like those highlighted above⌠Go back and watch Shamieâs second one and Maherâs one also, no intent other than to hurt their man⌠perhaps this is why Tipp really lost yesterday, they were too wound up.
Maher nearly took Flynnâs head off. Was a definite penalty and possible red card. Gleeson took out Cooney which was the other major decision kelly got wrong. Tipp have nothing to be sour about.
Thereâs a passage of play between 47 and 49 minutes which was as bad as any junior hurling youâll see this year. It ended with breen hitting an awful wife from 35 yards out. This wasnât in the top 10 games of decade.
@anon25556527 was widely ridiculed by the forum for seriously questioning Seamus callanans bottle 3 years ago and yet again heâs been vindicated. In vital moments in a big game tipp lost callanan has been found wanting. Please never mention him as a great again he isnât.
Steve Mahon played all his club hurling for Kilbeacanty afaik. Ballyturin would be the NS he attended.
I havenât watched it back but the old chestnut about the free count indicating bias ( or even prejudice ) is rubbish . It was 17 to 9 in Galwayâs favour but I will reserve judgement before my review . I didnât think Kelly was particularly bad on first watch .
The match programmes for the 1985, 86 and 87 finals list his club as Beagh.
As for Joe canning being this amazing clutch player based on yesterday? Total crap. That point at the end was a Snapshot when canning had absolutely no time to think of the consquences. Canning had a great 15 mins or so but is a serious media darling. Needs to show up big time in the final.
Funny that, considering he wasnât on the field
Well then it was Brendan maher. I had to watch the game with the volume off.
Will you be off the sauce when Princess returns?
Canning missed one easy enough goal chance, took on two incredibly difficult goal chances when easy points were on in the second half alone. Missed two simple frees in the opening half also.
Iâll give Canning his dues, it was a serious pressure shot on the sideline, about to be closed down by several Tipp players, last puck of the game, hadnât been playing particularly wellâŚit showed fair balls to nail it
