Galway v Tipperary - All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final 2017

That’s close enough to what I’ve been saying all along, but Cork at full flight will test Galway in a way nobody else would, if Cork shoot the lights out they could win, I can’t see any circumstances that Waterford can beat Galway, I think they’re one of the best teams I’ve seen

:joy:

You’re some wum to be fair - If Cork can raise it to the level Tipp did yesterday they will be doing very well and will have a chance.

Ah for fuck sake.

In fairness the operation to give a previously blind @backinatracksuit his sight was only performed in June

Evidence, please?

What were they singing. I was at the other end and couldn’t make it out.

Galway v Waterford is the most one sided head to head in championship hurling. Waterford have won all 10 previous meetings. Waterford are the only county Galway have never beaten in Championship hurling.

No time like the present.
An aif win would balance the ledger nicely.

In fairness to Galway they’ve all the hard work done now. Few light training sessions between now and September should keep them ticking over nicely.

It’s all over bar the shouting. Nobody could begrudge Galway this all-Ireland success.

In fairness it will make up for the one they were robbed out of in 1989.

Lovely photo there of Kilkenny playing into Waterfords hands.

Galway settled the 1989 score with Tipperary yesterday. I’d say it was all the sweeter for Galway as they were such unworthy winners on the day and stole it off valiant Tipperary who were only undone by a John Denton role reversal.

Galway will surely be hoping for Cork in the final. They’ve scores to settle with Cork - the narrow loss in the 1953 final for starters - the Mickey Burke/Christy Ring incident and the dust up afterwards in Barry’s Hotel.

Did they not settle that score in 1979?

Unworthy winners? The slippy ball gave Tipp 1-2 in first half from Galway mistakes. They were better all over the field yesterday

 The better a hurler you are the easier it is to deal with the slippy ball. It’s not exactly all luck

Yerra alert.

79 was only a semi final. Final balancing of books needed. Don’t forget Tom Cashman slighted the Mayor of Galway in a less that magnanimous victory speech in 1986 as well.

Think Steve Mahon was possibly playing for Beagh when Galway won in 1987.

Mahon played in 1980 too Geoffrey. He retired after 1987, and was replaced on the team by a young horse from Abbeyknockmoy by the name of Michael Coleman.

Edit. Kilbecanty man, not Beagh.
