Stop, FFS. Callanan is a class act and if you give him a sniff heāll bury you. He was marking one of the toughest FBs around yesterday, and thatās the only reason he didnāt exert his usual influence on the game. Heād still walk onto any team.
Lovely scene at the end of the match when players were going down the tunnel and Callanan congratulated Cathal Mannion.
Seamie is genuinely a sound chap tbf. He & the Tipp panel know better than most about losing games in Croke Park.
He also knew well Tipp had gotten past Galway by the skin of their teeth in the past.
The Tipp panel in general are all decent level headed lads.
Itās quite possible Kilbeacanty fell away a lot in the 1980s due to emigration. Beagh were senior and quite good in the 80s so Mahon (who lived there) probably played for them all right*.
I have it on good authority that Kilbeacanty and Beagh amalgamated for a spell in the 1960s (possibly 1966 or 1967).
Wikipedia also says the following of Beagh: āIn 2008 it amalgamated with neighbouring Kilbacenty at juvenile level forming Michael Cusackās Hurling Club.ā
