Galway v Tipperary - All Ireland Senior Hurling Semi-Final 2017

That ball was stuck with 74 mins on the clock if it had gone wide kelly would have blown it up immiedately.

He wouldnā€™t

Itā€™s the grab all association. Of course he would.

Incorrect, and youā€™re assuming a hell of a lot of awareness from Canning, and all for what? So you can claim some INTERNET victory from years ago?

Just like the Limerick half backs so.

Why did the ref play an extra minute to give tipp a chance to equalise? Your simple if you donā€™t think kellly would have blown it up had canning missed. What internet victory?

Iā€™ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career. Iā€™ve lost almost 300 games. 26 times, Iā€™ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. Iā€™ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed

What other chance?

Iā€™d agree with you there. Itā€™s a shot he didnā€™t have time to think about. He just had to hit it quickly without getting blocked down

If He missed it was a replay.

Even PĆ”draic Maherā€™s and the county board chairmanā€™s complaints about Barry Kelly in the pieces foremost GAA freelance journalist Jackie Cahill has published in The Irish Times, Irish Independent and Cork Examiner this morning are made in such a restrained and gentlemanly manner.

I was chatting to a Tipp colleague in the work kitchen earlier (cc @Malarkey) and he said to me, ā€œIt was beyond a joke. I think our first point of the second half came from a free when one lad pinned Seamie Callanan down by the arm and another ran into him from the other side and caught him in the head with his knee or thigh as he was falling. And we didnā€™t get another free inside the Galway 65 in the remaining 35+ minutes of hurling. When you look at the frees their forwards were awarded, their backs were awarded coming out with the ball and our forwards were denied on the way in and when you look at the final free countā€¦my God itā€™s fucking infuriating and Iā€™m still raging about it.ā€

I havenā€™t checked the veracity of his claim about frees in the second half yet but it looked really insidious to me as I briefly alluded to on Sunday.

Simple facts are it wasnā€™t this amazing clutch point people are trying to build it up to be.

Is thst not pressure at all trying to avpid being blocked down? Some gas cunts on here

He nailed a long range free few minutes previous. No pressure on thst either?

Not a fact. An opinion

Yes itā€™s pressure but a different type of pressure. Thatā€™s physical pressure. A free to win a game for example is mental pressure which is what we are talking about here, which he showed for that earlier free

Two very similar people, the men youā€™d want in that clutch situation.

I thought Callanan slipped that time to be honest and he was accidentally hit on the way down. Didnā€™t look like a free but they got it. The free out towards the end to P Mannion was a free. Oā€™Meara dragged him back. The one soft free Galway got (that I can remember) was the one where Joe Cooney had a shot saved and the ref brought it back for a handy free in. I thought we got far handier frees two years ago.

This one happened in front of me. Havenā€™t watched any of the analysis back but it was a free. The only thing was O Meara did get a little tip on the helmet as the ball was coming in before he then dragged Mannion back. It was a silly free he gave away.

That one with Callanan from my angle most certainly looked like a free. There were other decisions I wasnā€™t entirely happy with but I was sitting with a bunch of Tipp people without the hindsight of instant relays or any sense of objectivity. Regardlessā€¦some days you get those breaks, some days you donā€™t. The best case scenario for us going down the final stretch was to get a draw. As most of the tipp crowd around me agreed, we werenā€™t getting out of there with the win unless we scored another goal

Watched the second half again this morning. Absolutely relentless stuff. Better than the 2015 game by a wide margin. Probably surpasses the 2010 final.

Canning really was the difference in the end as well.
