Callanan I think.
It was a despicable chant about a rumor related to Shamies personal life
You sound shocked.
Lovely photo here of the two boys at their flat on the Phibsborogh Road when the two of them worked in Mountjoy. They used to drink in the Hut with Cyril.
I like the way they speak normally without the usual bland cliches.
Iâve enjoyed it the few times Iâve listened to it - I suppose being an ex-player and not a geek Woolly is actually more interested in asking the right question and letting the boys answer them and not listening to his own ramblings.
What the fuck is right - He described Galway fans as a âA baying mobâ -
Was that his first time at a GAA match? Youâll always get people shouting scutter, and while I donât agree with it, they pay good money to do it.
Anyway, itâs always a handful of pissed young fellas ffs.
He must have some set of fucking lugs on him if he could hear what was being said on Hill 16 from the press box in the Upper Hogan.
Listened to it today for the first time. Fair fucks to you, i mean him, i mean you. Excellent.
Whereâs Fogarty from, or need i ask
Who was marking Canning in the last 15 minutes?
Bonner Maher
A very disparaging comment frequently used by Tipperary supporters is that you wouldnât know whether to calve him or mark him. Maybe they were gone for the jack?
Good question.
He was floating all over the place so no one is the clear answer.
I havenât watched the match back yet but someone mentioned it to me (NOGRA analyst)⌠The key move by Micheal OâD seems to have been moving Johnny Glynn into the full forward line where he was followed by Paudie Maher. The shot below shows Paudie shadowing JG during the moments of Cannings free that dropped short.
Youâll notice when the ball arrived out to Johnny Coen and Joe there was no sign of Paudie in the area he marshaled for over 80% of the game.
JG went top of the left, opened up Canningâs side of the field when Maher followed him in. Moving Maher to where the ball was killed off the Clare comeback in the previous game. Kudos to OâDonoghue for that stroke.
Galway did great work nullifying Paudie. All of their puck outs in the first half went down on top of Kennedy.
Hallmark of a top player. One of the great backs of the modern era. Mickey Cahill had a fine game too, nice to see him back to near his best.
Maher will go down as one of the greats of the game and will be up there with JJ Delaney as one of the best backs of all time. He is still only 28 so hopefully there is another 1 maybe 2 All Irelands left in him.
I think what he did to Michael Rice will tarnish his legacy.
He should be on 5 all stars by end of this year too, depending on how the last two games of the championship go. His shooting has got way more accurate in the last few years too. Nearly all of his shots from distance (e.g. The two points against Galway) tend to go over the bar now. I wouldnât say he will quite reach the JJ levels though.
On a side note, I met him before for a couple of hours, and he was a thoroughly alright sort, a lot more so than I thought he would be (setting this one up I supposeâŚ)
