General Election 2016

Fascist imperialism is in their blood.

They still have have exactly the same mentality now, except they’re marching to declare war on the low paid, the sick and the homeless, and going into battle on the side of the William Martin Murphys of today.

I’ve made it pretty clear here Sidney that I’m not much of a supporter of violent Republicanism. My posts on 1916 make that clear. I can only go on the histories of the major parties and their respective willingness to pursue democratic means. Talking about FG being facist when FFers and SFers brought bloodshed because they didn’t get their way and the people didn’t side with them is gas.

I’d have struggled to vote for Lemass back in the day as well. I won’t vote for Gerry Adams as he is a murderer and make no apologises for that.

You are supporting a SF party who are paying lip service to taxing corporations because they know it won’t happen. They are FF 2.0, it’s the exact same path. Both ultimately wanted power and gave up their sworn principles for that.

RUBISH AND A FOOLISH THING TO SAY @The_Most_Infamous

Get an Irish Times or Irish Newspaper Archives sub for a month. They’re great for researching family stuff as well.

But FG have fascist roots, pal. Even they admit that.

Your politics legitimises the imperialist rule of every colonial oppressor in history. You know that and appear to glory in it…

Your politics classes the resistance fighters in World War II France, the anti-apartheid struggle in South Africa, the American War of Independence and all other anti-imperialist struggles which involved any violence at all, ie, all of them, as fascist. Quite the irony, and quite wilfully ignorant of history.

He’s an Oirish rugby fan mate, of course he supports apartheid.

Yes FG admit it. They got rid off Eoin O’Duffy such was the embarrassment they were causing.

You lads are equivocating, and putting it ahead of, the founders of FF & SF for decades IGNORING the democratic will of the people.

CnG took the gun out of the south in the 20s. They handed over power peacefully to the early subverters of the State in '32. The people, by democratic vote, backed them and the Treaty in the early 1920s. Those actions speak a lot more powerfully than some lads playing dress up.

On the last paragraph of your post, that’s just made up by you. I believe Ireland would have been better off not going down the violent route in 1919 and that the Constituional route was better but I’m aware that is not the popular view. There was a Constituional path that was already undertaken. Equating that to the French Resistance or 18th Century Colonial America is hilarious.

The Blueshirt element within FG didn’t go with O’Duffy…

WT Cosgrave returned as leader. He being the one who handed over power peacefully.

You must have an example of the Fine Gael party attempting an overthrow of the state then to really compare them to the facism elements on mainland Europe? Say like occupying the Four Courts.

I’d say his father was probably the type who threw eggs at the anti-apartheid protestors outside Lansdowne Road when Ireland played South Africa in 1969 and made a point of going into Dunnes Stores when their workers went on strike over selling South African produce.

@Tim_Riggins himself probably curses that he was born too late to do that, but consoled himself by passing the pickets when Dunnes workers were forced to strike over low-hours contracts. He also strikes me as the type who’d have made a point of texting George Hook to proudly announce he was doing so.

Tim said earlier that FG were not right wing enough for him at the moment, I bet he’s a huge admirer of O’Duffy.

TURN ON RTE 2 NOW LADS;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;:relaxed:

IPSOS/MRBI poll for tmrrw’s Irish times:

FG 28 (nc) ff 23(+2) lab 6 (-1) sf 15 (-4) inds 28(+3) ipsos mrbi poll

That broadly tallies with a FF surge, FG becalmed, SF falling back and Labour in wipeout territory.

Keep taking the Kool Aid.

Kinda sums the Leadership on show in this election Imo.

FG
A dope. Hid from the media & tough questions throughout his term. Party would do well to replace him as leader.

FF
Martin is capable. But, his legacy as a Minister in FF of reckless leadership haunts potential voters.

SF
Party seem stunted in gaining % of new vote due to Adams leadership. Bizarre when Pearse Doherty has a high public rating.

Lab
In same position now as most minority partners, being filleted by the public. Joan Bruton and her low likability levels are killing their appeal even further. Change of Leader needed.

It could be argued that all of the above are lucky to be leading their parties judging the public ratings.
