General Election 2016

Chicken.

It’s all there for you to debate Nembo

Here’s Enda Kenny…

He’s bombing.

The choice given to the Irish people was accept the treaty or face a “no holds barred” total war by the British, as was made clear in the treaty negotiations. A vote conducted under such a threat is not democracy. Abandoning the Nationalists in the 6 counties to 70 years of apartheid was simply wrong as history has demonstrated. There is some evidence Collins regarded it as a stepping stone (his arming of the IRA in the 6 counties) but this was quickly forgotten once power was achieved (a criticism just as relevant to FF as FG). The “stand idly by” approach of both parties while their own citizens were being burned out of their homes and beaten and murdered on the streets is a stain that cannot be erased. Both deserve to be consigned to the dustbin of Irish politics, spineless cunts the lot of them.

It’s a motorway pile-up.

Fuck me, he’s an idiot. A total gombeen.

Fucking hell. I thought Dobson started tentatively and was going to give him an easy ride but he’s destroyed him as it went on. I found it difficult to watch actually, I was squirming for Kenny.

Here’s a link to the debate where Regina Doherty made her comments to Gerry Adams about an unprovoked sectarian massacre of civilians committed by an off-duty RUC officer at a Sinn Fein constituency office in 1992 being “all brought on by your own actions”.

In fact the comments are even worse when the debate is listened to in the round as Adams had just previously mentioned other sectarian attacks against his family, which Doherty was also referring to in her reply.

@Tim_Riggins has so far refused to deal with the comments.

From 1 hour and 5 minutes on:

Assured performance from our Leader. This is in the bag.

Excuses, excuses.

The politicians accepted it and the people accepted it.

It’s ironic that you would go on about bloodshed armed themselves and forced a Civil War, the rivers of blood speech ect

The sad reality for you chaps is that the public accepted the Treaty. Fianna Fáil belatedly did the same. What did they do for the 6 counties when in power and when they had the chance to wage another armned campaign?

Partition was signed off on 1920 when SF were off fighting down south.

In fairness to Tim, he, like pretty much everyone else, ignores anything that comes out of Regina’s gob

These opinion polls with Sinn Fein dropping seem to be in contrast with opinion polls carried out at local constituency level where Sinn Fein are being tipped strongly to take seats they weren’t previously expected to take.

I didn’t see the interview, but I’m surprised his FG handlers are letting Kenny anywhere near a live interview. The man is a liability.

Regina Doherty is a prominent Fine Gael TD, and @Tim_Riggins, as a prominent Fine Gael supporter, needs to deal with the comments.

Has our leader dealt with them?

Could one imagine what the reaction from both Fine Gael and the media would be if Gerry Adams had, hypothetically, said: “The Kingsmills massacre was brought on by the RUC’s actions”?

Because it would amount to effectively the same thing as what Doherty said.

This was an entirely unprovoked, sectarian massacre of civilians she was referring to here.

She was also referring to the murder of two members of Gerry Adams’ family by Loyalist paramilitaries and the British Army respectively, the shooting of his brother, his own shooting by Loyalist paramilitaries in 1984, and the bombing of his office.

“All brought on by his own actions”, according to Regina Doherty.
