General Election 2016

Hat-tip to the excellent “Lovin’ Dublin” website and its proprietor Niall “Harbo” Harbison for the link.

Fine Gael TD for Longford-Westmeath James Bannon has been caught stealing his election opponents’ literature and questioned by Gardai. Surprise, surprise, it was Sinn Fein literature which he stole.

I’ve been in his house. His wife is a pleasant woman.

He’s lulling them into a false sense of security.

Given his liberal access to the airwaves through Marion Finucane and others in RTE would indicate cuntishness on hanafinesque levels. The recent legal action would seem to confirm this

Run Blueshirt, Run Blueshirt,
Run, Run, Run.

The blueshirts can’t handle a bit of pressure at all. With any luck this will be their last time in power

With respect, Tim. What lay ahead if the Treaty hadn’t passed was enough to make any citizen vote in its favour.

Well Fagan, Stuck on 9. Am I pressing the button?

what lay ahead mate?

Read a history book, pal.

Labour were on Kamikaze for the past 2 weeks.

Looks like Fine Gael have decided to click the distruct button.

Fianna FĂĄil doing very well, by default they will pick up a lot of votes from people who do not want to vote FG or Labour, but also do not want to vote for SF

ive a degree in history mate

Snap.

In other words, their core vote.

OMFG , a beautiful friendship is born

This is pure speculation and does not stand up to scrutiny. Churchill and co saying they would come down heavy on Ireland was just a line. The Brits weren’t getting away with much worse than the WoI in a post war environment. It’s a line thrown out there by those with anti treaty backgrounds to justify the undemocratic war waged.

People will do some serious mental gymnastics when it comes to these things.

A large proportion of nationalists were not that bothered about a Republic. Plenty of others saw that a constitutional path was available with it. The vast majority of Ireland were, in the end, pro treaty. Some couldn’t accept that. Most of them realised the folly of that a few years later.

Most honest Republicans, @chocolatemice being one, will admit that their viewpoint was not accepted by others. Calling others out as facists when that’s your position is rich.
