General Election 2016

Heā€™s predicting Chris Andrews to pip Kevin Humphreys for the last seat, interesting. And hopefully true.

Thereā€™s obviously a gap in the market for a left wing party, which is why most people in the republic vote for them.

Youā€™re another man who obsessively parrots the party line. No criticism allowed at all.

My point is that any reasonable argument i.e. in the south SF would achieve far more success with Pearse or Mary Lou in charge (possibly no more than FG if they changed from Kenny) gets absolutely stonewalled with dogmatic rants and whataboutery from the usual rastoolers. This is not seen in other parties where there is often criticism or discussion about party figures or policies.

And will you away with your ā€œfree stateā€ - this is our republic. You live under itā€™s laws, security, employment and opportunities - as such you have a duty to respect it, progress it and not denigrate it with your snide remarks.

Thinks Humphreys hasnā€™t a hope and itā€™s between Callaghan and Andrews for the last seat, but expects that the big RA contingent in GCD will pull SF through.

Lovely stuff.

Branding @Sidney simple like that is a little ott.

:grinning:

Seriously. Was there like a course where Government stooges were brought in and given the same spiel to trot out online?

Itā€™s not a republic, it is a free statelet of partitioned Ireland. You need to go back and learn your history.

Iā€™d rather Sinn Fein go with Adams, a man with a proven track record of delivering for his people. When he grew up in Belfast, education was one of the many civil rights that nationalists were denied or curtailed in, now all the top performing schools in the O6 are Catholic schools. The social reform Adams and Sinn Fein have overseen in the O6, bringing it from an oppressive, sectarian state to one of near equity is highly commendable.

It was the gun and the ballot box that brought us here and to hear the successive governments of a rotten state, mired in corruption, cronyism and downright negligence to their people try and morally point score is galling.

Outstanding display last night by Enda. FG will walk this.

I donā€™t think @Sidney is simple at all. Despite the odd forced joke heā€™d strike me as quite a smart guy. Thatā€™s why the absolute faith and unquestioning attitude is noteworthy.

It was a free state. It is now a republic. Turns out the treaty was and is a stepping stone.

Partition exists - not a republic.

Very important to @Sidney to win arguments on the internet and not to be seen to back down. No way does he believe most of the tripe he posts he just gets too emotionally involved in the discussion and the need to ā€˜winā€™.

A Republic is not a geographical entity itā€™s a political one.

Itā€™s a state where the people hold power by electing representatives rather than a monarch.

They should call itself the Republic of Southern Ireland so as it is a partitioned state of Ireland.

Economic neanderthals, eh?

Is that why Fine Gael is stealing Sinn Fein policy on tax for those above 100k income?

And remind me who got their figures right, and who got them wrong, again?
