Getting a dog

So you can wake your kid up for school, sternly warn kid not to let dog up on bed, then walk off knowing that kid is giving the dog a big hug and thinking he/she has won the first battle of the day.

My two share a crate. Fuckers would just be clambering on to window sills on full alert for foxes for the night if not locked in

In a bed in a room with hard floors so that if there is an “accident” there is no major issue. My dogs are small house dogs and wouldn’t be able to sleep out in the winter. When I had the Labrador he used to sleep out in the shed until he got old.

On our bed, but his feet and arse are cleaned every time he comes in from a walk, so he is not dragging muck around the place. He’s a handy size though. We have some amount of money sunk into him this year, the poor auld devil isn’t well. I feel sorry for the families who can’t afford to pay the vet bills. And fuck the cunts who think it’s too much hassle and just give the dog away.

I love having the dogs around the house, it’s not without drawbacks but they’re good companions and are part of the family, sure you’d never smell your own dogs unless they’re wet or covered in shit

We have a dog flap on the back door

On the end of our bed or my bed if I’m in the dog house. Out last Saturday week and knew I was in the spare room. Woke up and he was at the end of the bed. Loyality.

Our fella has a bed downstairs but when the missus heads off to sleep he’ll go out and sleep on a mat by the front door. It’s tiled so maybe it’s a bit cooler for him. Then the fucker will wake up at 5:55am and run upstairs to check that everyone is ok. He might lie under a bed for a while until people get up. Or just bark to be taken out to meet his pals.

Any experience with Golden Irish? Am keeping an eye out for the right dog. Concerns around hip dysplasia, what I hear is it’s almost a given they’ll suffer it to some degree, how bad is a roll of the dice.

They’ve a great temperament, good around kids, good around other dogs, very active and easier to train than others.

I don’t WFH so that would be a big reservation. It’s got to be right for the dog too. Would consider a pair on those grounds.
