Rathmore chairman Andrew McCarthy has condemned the treatment of his clubman Aidan O’Mahony as an “absolute disgrace”.

The disgusted club official said: "It’s an absolute disgrace. It’s totally unfair on an amateur sportsman. Everyone here in the club knows the situation with Aidan and we are totally supportive of his situation.

"Everyone in the club knows Aidan has been an asthma sufferer since he was a child and the wonder is that he is playing football at all. He is a young fella suffering from asthma and he is trying to - and has - overcome a debilitating illness to play for Kerry at the highest level.

“He is a role model for all the young kids in the county and he’s an ambassador for Kerry football. And yet he is being pilloried in some quarters and I find that disturbing.”

how was he treated bad? he failed a drug test

isnt he the guy that disgraced himself vs Cork? not sure how he could be described as a role model for all the young kids in the county and hes an ambassador for Kerry football.

Shameful treatment of an Irish sporting hero alright. Hopefuly it’ll be sorted out soon and those who condemned him wrongly will be men enough to stand up and apologise to Mr O Mahoney.

eh, he failed a drug test,

Tut tut, thats what you get for just reading the headlines in The Sun.

will all due respect Boo Boo
Sporting and Hero do not apply to Mr O’Mahoney; even if he has a poor weak cheat.

edit: ha ha I meant chest. I swear.

The GAA have confirmed that the temporary suspension imposed on Kerry GAA player Aidan O Mahony for a doping offence has been lifted pending a full hearing of his case.

O Mahoney was suspended following an intial finding that the level of the asthma related drug salbutamol which is injested through the use of an inhaler exceeded the permissable levels in a test carried out in the wake of this year’s All-Ireland final.
GAA statement in full.

In a statement issued by the GAA, the Association confirmed that following a preliminary hearing by the Chair of the Anti-Doping Hearings Committee, the provisional suspension imposed on one of its players in relation to an alleged anti-doping offence has been lifted, pending a full hearing of the Committee. A date for this meeting has yet to be scheduled.

Innocent until proven guilty.

Which of course he isn’t.

The GAA have confirmed that following a preliminary hearing by the Chair of the Anti-Doping Hearings Committee, the provisional suspension imposed on Aidan O’Mahony in relation to an alleged anti-doping offence has been lifted, pending a full hearing of the Committee. A date for this meeting has yet to be scheduled.

The Kerry centre back became the first GAA player to fail a drugs test earlier this week when traces of a substance used to treat asthma was found in his urine after this year’s All-Ireland final.

The GAA will not be making any further comment on the matter ahead of this Hearing in accordance with Article 15 of the Irish Anti-Doping Rules.

O’Mahony is to have his case heard tonight by the GAA Anti-Doping committee, he has the same solictior representing him as Frankie Sheahan had.

The Aidan O’Mahony saga should be ended tonight when the deferred hearing into the Kerry star’s doping case finally takes place.

The unfortunate Kingdom player has been waiting since November for this opportunity to clear his name and will expect to walk away from the hearing with his reputation completely intact.

The asthmatic centre back has been a victim of circumstance and it is fully expected that tonight’s meeting of the GAA’s Anti-Doping Committee will clear him of any wrong-doing.
