Garth Brooks has ended his 5 year deal with the Wynn early leading to speculation he might go on a world tour in 2014.
That would be fucking epic. Would love to see him live.

Count me in if weāre organising a TFK outing.
I got a free ticket to Roger Waters yesterday, canāt wait. Although I have heard the Insurance bowl is a very poor venue for concerts. No chance of a funny fag there either I hear, once you enter you cannot smoke anywhere.
We are planning on getting royally fucked up before strolling down to the venue-it will be a matter of timing that Iām not too far out in space to get past the gate.
Is there no smoking area in the whole bloody place, does anybody know? I will need a refresh at half time !!!
failing that Iām just gonna eat the bloody thing in a Yogurt or something, although the timing of this can be very hit and miss, it might not hit you for hours.

No smoking anywhere, pal so a yogurt might not be a bad idea-maybe even do up a batch of brownies. I havenāt smoked in a good few years really apart from the odd toke so Iām happy enough to get baked before I go in and that should do me.

The excitement I would expect to feel for this announcement is tempered by the fact that Tim, the singer left them last November. The new single sounds good all the sameā¦but I fucking loved that guyās voice.
Wheatus are playing in Dublin tonight. I can not name a single Wheatus song other than (the rather brilliant) āTeenage Dirtbagā, which I would estimate was released around the year 2000.
Intriguing stuff. Iād nearly go hang around outside just to see what weirdos would be attending an event like this.

They had a way with song names, Iāll give them that much
Also, Damo is playing the Abbey Tavern in Howth on November 23rd and his customary show in Vicar Street on December 14th. I reckon me and the lady will attend them both and I will be looking for advice from Fingallians regarding the Howth show as itās the ladyās birthday sometime around then and it would be nice to bring her out for the day and wine and dine her before the show. I canāt remember the date her birthday is, mind you.

Much the same as @Thrawneen. Midlake were all about Tim Smith for me. Well he was the songwriter and lead singer. They are like a new band now.
Iāll listen to their new album and make my mind up then.

Me too. The other lads were a sound bunch, though, and Iād like to keep supporting them if their new material is any use. Theyāre still playing stuff from the three previous records anyway, and, hey, Iād probably pay ā¬20 to hear a band play Van Occupanther (the song) played in a competent manner alone.
I really did love Timās voice though.
Deep on Howth Pier is a great spot - as mentioned in Fingal Dining thread - large seafood platter for two and chilled bottle of Chablis. CANNOT. GO. WRONG.

Here is the definitive post on dining on the peninsula.
Coffeys in the Superquinn centre is a very reliable neighbourhood caff, serving copious portions. As we move into Howth taking a left onto the West Pier, I generally pass Ivanās which is by now a fairly sad relic of the Celtic Tiger. Next up is the Brass Monkey, a mid range restaurant serving hearty helpings of fish. Then we come to the slightly more swish but less popular Deep which I have always found perfectly satisfactory.
Next up is the jewel in the crown on this stretch, the Oarhouse, which survived an almost calamitous menu makeover last year. Good fish is the order of the day here, served from an open kitchen by a lovely team of experienced waitresses.
Next door is the tiny Octopussy, a super little tapas bar. Try the black sole if itās on as a special.
At the very end of this pier, is Aqua, a restaurant boasting the most spectacular views. Pricey, but the sea views render it a great spot for a special occasion, such as popping the question.
Back on to the main road are the Findlater, Casa Pasta, El Paso and Okra Green, all of which are generally unremarkable. Beshoffs and Cafe Caira are on this drag and are both solid chippers. At the top of the East Pier is East which is new. I had a lunch there recently and it was fine. Next door is the Grande Dame of Howth restaurants, the King Sitric. Again specialising in high end fish, think turbot and lobster rather than cockles and mussels, I find the place stuffy and outmoded, the service overbearing and cloying, much like the Thermidor sauce. Eyewateringly expensive.
Up the hill onto Abbey Street, the abbey Tavern serves food, but I have never eaten there. Next up is House, a great restaurant for breakfast, brunch ,lunch or dinner. Imaginative, modern and not terribly expensive, itās a gem.
Two doors up is Ella a small but presentable wine bar/bistro.
Two other mentions. The Big Blue opposite the Cock Tavern has reopened for the nth time, now as a tapas bar. And finally upstairs in Country Kitchen beside the Church youāll get a fine breakfast or lunch.
Canāt ask for better than that, Fagan. The Oarhouse looks like the place for us. We go stone-mad for fish.
After seeing this post I decided to check Damoās website to see if he is playing any UK gigs. Low and behold he is coming to Birmingham in October. Two tickets books for the scandalously low price of Ā£35:clap:
Ah thatās great news. Delighted for you.
