I like a bit of interaction with the crowd, but you know what you’ll get with Frank Black
As long as you know what you’re getting then fair enough.
As good a gig as I’ve been to in a while. No small talk, just tune upon tune. Great ould buzz. Twas a lovely mix of the great unwashed and middle aged folk trying to peer through the window of time.
They came on around 9.10pm. There was a band from Manchester on before them, didn’t get their name,
Yeah around 9:10. Will be a good buzz at it tonight given the weather.
I saw Damien Dempsey in The Iveagh Gardens last Sat night. Tremendous stuff. A beautiful balmy evening in Dublin. It was electric. Damien looks like a man who is at his happiest on stage. He was absolutely beaming. He even won over a sceptical mrs barnes.
Damo is absolutely brilliant live, honestly I’d never listen to his music on a day to day basis, except for his Live at the Olympia record, but I’ve seen him play a number of times and been blown away
Id agree with that. He has a very loyal following that really get involved at gigs. A lovely atmosphere there on sat night
Anyone looking for a ticket in Galway tonight
His live show is chicken soup for the soul. I have seen him ten times live in many different settings but the one constant he brings is a tremendous energy- puts his heart and soul into every song.
I saw him this time three years ago in the iveagh gardens in a similarly lovely summers evening. An ideal venue for one of his gigs.
A spiritual experience. Mrs Barnes was very dubious but the power of the whole thing won her over.
His gigs at Christmas are a very special experience.
Only three gigs have sold out Crown Live in Wexford;
Qween tribute act,
Borderline republican band,
Damien Dempsey.
What time can I expect the Flaming lips on stage in Galway tonight?
Saint Sister supporting, did the Pixies have support?
If you check Twitter the promoters often put up stage times.
Pixies started around 9:15 anyway.
I see that Pixies played the guts of over 30 songs in the Iveagh Gardens last week.
Frank Black doesn’t say a word to the crowd. Zero small talk. Just belts the tunes out and fucks off.
I’ve been at their gigs - even with that 32 odd songs is impressive.
