What’s the idea of likes of Fontaines and Mary Wallopers playing gigs all over Britain, but only the odd one or two on this side?

Fontaines are based in London and have bigger fish to fry. They’ve a European tour before UK dates. Two dates in 3 Arena.

I’d have liked a Belfast gig myself.

I have concluded that the lead singer is a very off putting element of this band.

I was listening to Hurricane Laughter earlier - excellent intro, great energy and then he comes n with his overly emphasised Dublin accent and the downbeat almost spoken ‘Hurricane Laughter’ chorus.

Feel the same. Leave that to Fergal in Whipping Boy. But I suppose most of their fans wouldn’t know who WB are, feels a bit of a blatant rip off though.

I think he’s an integral part of it. He puts on the accent a bit but very few front men sing in their own accent and at least his put on one is of where hes from. He’s a bit of a quirky alternative oddball but sure everyone can’t be a one of the lads Johnny smacks type.

Each to their own. I think he’s key to their sound and he has some great lyrics.

I see Tom Meighan of Kasabian fame is playing here in Wexford Town tomorrow night. Is he on hard times or what’s the craic?
