Clarkey approves. Carry on.
Just booked tickets to his Roisin Dubh gig in Galway on the 14th of December http://cp12-eu.stablehost.com/~thefreek/board/public/style_emoticons/default/pint.gif
Have you been to one of his gigs before, KP?
Never Mate.
Been listening to some of the stuff on this thread and would have seen him perform live once or twice on RTE. The more I listen, the more I like the stuff.
The fact that this night is coupled with a session with a bunch of yahoos I havenāt seen in a few years should make for a night of high jinx.

Ah heās fantastic live in particular. Youāll love it.
My tickets for Vicar Street arrived last week. Might also head along to the all-seated Pavilion Theatre in Dun Laoghaire at the start of December to see him play a more urbane and civilised setting. Figuring he might play some of the slower stuff like Kilburn Stroll, Factories, Spraypaint Backalley, and the like.
You will have a post gig feeling of euphoria, KP.
I anticipate that my greatest challenge will be converting that euphoric hailstorm into words on a page.
Rubbish. Roaring and bawling into a mic like lads on a stag in England or Sydneyā¦
Chris and Stevie is a beautifully written poignant song about two friends of his that committed suicide.
For anyone who has lost a friend to suicideā¦
if you listen to that you wont remain dry eyed.
I agree, KP. Chris and Stevie and Canadian Geese off the new album are as good as anything heās ever done.
Iāve spent the last hour watching various Damo videos on youtube. Along with the Pogues heās the best live performer Iāve seen - far more consistent than Shane obviously - but thereās nothing to compare to the atmosphere at their gigs as far as Iām concerned.
Legend. there is something unique about Damoā¦ at a spiritual level.
Ye have me convinced lads.
I am officially buying tickets to Damoās gig in Thurles this December.
I once spoke to Damien on live radio here in Australia (the ABC of course). One of the great moments of my life to actually speak to the great man. I havenāt been priviliged enough to see him live, I hope to rectify that one day. Irelandās warrior poet indeed
What was the context of your chat, Fitzy? Was it a competition or something?
Iād like to formally thank the wonderful Laura Woods (formerly RTE, now TV3) for arranging for us to meet Damien backstage at RTE one day. 2 taxi loads left Stokes Kennedy Crowley at around 4.30pm on that Thursday evening to arrive in Donnybrook in time for now defunct youth programme The CafĆ©.
