Help please IT/computer lads

audio output wouldn’t give me that option in the dropdown. Just shows internal speakers.

Paired but not connected?

Bose are a PITA.

start the pairing process again @caulifloweredneanderthal - you may have had the option to pair to the device or the headphones and paired with the device. If there were two options when you were pairing pick the one you didn’t pick the first time

just figured it there! Yeah, I had another option called headphone when I went back in! Thanks mate.

How different (or possibly inferior) is AMD Ryzen 5 to Intel Core i5? Seems to be a lot cheaper.

Depends on the exact spec.

Thanks, will try to make sense of that.

Throw the two up if you have them to hand

AMD Ryzen 5 4680U - surface laptop 4

Core i5-1035G7 - surface laptop 3

There isn’t much of a difference in price in this example but the 3 only has 128gb and 4 has 256gb.

If the rest of the spec is the same the 256 GB would be the winner there for me.

Same RAM?
Same screen?

Yep, same size screen and RAM.

I don’t think it’s specific to this example, just noticed Ryzen seems cheaper in general. In my ignorance, not surprised that Intel has a premium but haven’t seen anything to suggest Ryzen is far inferior.

By screen I mean resolution.

Ryzens are unclocked so if you’ve a motherboard that allows over clocking you’ll get better performance than some of the clocked Intel ones.

The only differences come at the very very high end which won’t be a problem in the surface. Ryzen way better value at lower end performance

Some programs may not be compiled to run on AMD chips but that isnt a problem for 99.9% of people

Yep. Possibly could have found a better example as the 4 is actually 100 quid more expensive than the 3, but the 4 is obviously a new model and 256gb v 128gb. All else apart from the processor looks the same.

Thanks, yes seems to be better value. And I’ve learned what overclocking is.

Im pretty clueless in this area but over the years devices have become more and more idiot proof and there’s not a whole lot I can’t handle. However I still find printers easily the biggest absolute bastarding cuntfuck area of technology there is. No matter which one I buy they never run smoothly. Always losing connection or not working for various incomprehensible reasons.
Latest issue is connecting it to WiFi. I have a hp envy pro 6430.
Can I just connect it to the laptop with a wire and take the whole internet part out of it? If so how do I do it?

Usb cable should do it the downloan and install drivers

Yes. I find the drivers for wireless printing can be a little hit and miss sometimes

All you need is a printer USB cable to bypass wireless printing.
