Holiday destinations for the accompanied traveller

We went to Gozo and rented a speedboat. Some craic. They bring you out to the boat, show you the throttle and then let you off on your own for 3 hours. It’s deadly.

@Bandage I highly recommend this for you.

I’m heading to malta in June for a wedding. Early June?

FFS sake.

Yes.

What’s your connection to the bride/groom?

I’m confident we’ll be attending different weddings.

Gutted. Give me a shout if you fancy a race in a shopping Centre or something.

FAO of @Nembo_Kid, @Little_Lord_Fauntleroy, @Arseboxin, @Fran and others:

I’m attending a wedding in Malta in early June with my life partner and we’re thinking of going to Sicily for a week or so first. A 10/11 day little jaunt in total with Sicily followed by 3/4 days in Malta either side of the wedding.

My questions are:

  • what are the best areas in Sicily to holiday in?
  • what airlines / airports to use?
  • best way to get from Sicily to Malta?
  • any other pertinent points to consider based on trips to these regions?

ive been to the east side (flew to trapani) Its no sorrento

I’ve only gone direct to Sicily, so can’t assist with your onward journey queries

However we stayed in Taormina/Giardini Niaxos and to be honest I found it expensive and excessively touristy. It’s nice for a day trip I suppose

Friends stayed up north and found it much less over run with Cruise day trippers and said Palermo was very interesting

To add - if Sardinia is an option I’d take that. I believe it’s much much nicer

A filthy kip and the people are the most entitled fuckers I’ve come across

Did you fly into Palermo? What are the other options?

Catania I think it was. Wherever Aer Lingus fly to

Ryanair also fly into Catania ‘North’ I think

How was Japan?

@Bandage would you not just go to mainland Italy and holiday some where like Tuscany or Umbria instead spending a week with thieves and brigands in Sicily.

My life partner has a strong preference to go to Sicily and I’m willing to compromise. We’ve been to the mainland together on holidays a few years back and on separate trips there too so the islands would be “new”. Feel free to sketch out an alternative holiday for me though. The lack of input from @Fran has disappointed me.

A lot of sunshine, pack one of these.

I wouldn’t be any use to you pal. I just like to rent a house with a pool in an out of the way location and chill.
