Holiday destinations for the accompanied traveller

Any of the Spanish sites we’ve looked at were way more expensive. Did you find any cheaper ones comparable to La Sirene

Over 10 years since we did them and were only in Montroig, presume like everything they’ve gone expensive across the board.

I think we kind of need a smaller one than the massive ones like bella Italia. Does this one look ok?

We are returning to La Sirene again this year. We’ve been to some other great sites in Italy, Spain & France but La Sirene comes out on top for our kids. The pool complex on site is fantastic and they are improving it this year. Loads to do on site and the evening entertainment for the kids is good. We go in June so it’s not that crowded. On site food & supermarket is good, it’s not cheap but it’s not wild either. There is a really good go-karting circuit near the site (https://www.ludikart.com/), about a five minute cycle. We did a formula 1 type race against some other families is was great craic. I’d recommend hiring bikes, we cycled to the local town and beach no bother, cycle tracks are very good. We fly Cork to Carcassonne with Ryanair, the campsite organises the transfer from Carcassonne to the site for €50pp return. For a family of 5 it’s costing us just shy of €3k for flights, transfers & accomodation for 12 days in June this year.

The best coffee beans in the world are roasted in Napoli, imho.

I visited Italy for the first time to visit Passalaqua’s roastery, but it was closed to visitors due to the pandemic.

Maybe watch Gomorrah before you go, and take a visit to Vela de Scampia which I did. If you’re feeling adventurous, there’s an abandoned town once populated by wealthy Italians, now populated by African hookers. Mad spot.

Also, not sure if this is a result of a lifestyle choice or whether the booze was problematic, but there’s an AA meeting on the US Military base in Naples, which is the their base for Europe and Africa. Huge. Mere mortals would normally not be allowed access, but it’s worth the trip. I believe AA membership qualification is a desire to stop drinking, so the bar is low.

Yes I did.
