Holiday destinations for the accompanied traveller

:joy: of course it fucking is.

Berlin is my favourite city, cheap too. If there is women going all that Christmas market shit will be knocking around.

The last time the Rhine froze over was 1962/63, so thatā€™s not a bad indicator.

Munich is a much nicer city to visit than Berlin Imo.

Disagree rating

Depends on what youā€™re looking for. In December Iā€™d probably go to Munich though. Itā€™s more compact and more suited to the Christmas Market vibe than Berlin. Itā€™s also likely to be warmer than Berlin at that time of year.

Berlin is an ugly sprawling mass of a city. Nothing too wrong with it just fairly average as cities in Europe go. Some interesting places to visit like the Topography of Terror etc but I wouldnā€™t spend more than a day or two there

Munich is a beautiful city, not bombed to shit in the war. Fantastic medieval architecture and a better atmosphere Imo. Thatā€™s just my opinion, Iā€™m sure you could argue the other way too.

Munich is the great spot for a city break weekend traveller alright, meets all the criteria (beautiful, architecture, atmosphere etc). Berlin has much more depth to it though, warts and all.

Is anyone in a position to advise on things to do in, or around, the sleepy Hawaiian beach of Waikiki?

Anyone ever been to Cape Verde?

Flying to Bilbao in a few days on vacation and returning from Bordeaux. 11 days between flights and weā€™ve only booked accommodation in Bilbao for the first 2 nights. Iā€™ll get my life partner to rent a car as cars canā€™t be rented to those on provisional Irish driving licences. Weā€™ll probably spend a couple of nights in Bordeaux before flying home too so thatā€™s the beginning and end of the trip sorted. Any recommendations for the week in between? We could drive to San SebastiĆ”n, Santander, Biarritz or such like and stay a day or two in any of them. Anywhere worth checking out in that region?

A few days on the camino would do your catholic soul the world of good Bandage. You might even get yourself fit enough to attempt an all out assault on the 5k on your return

Phew. Flying into Bilbao on Monday so presume itā€™ll be rocking by then after the Sunday night shutdown?

You can skip Santander, itā€™s also in the wrong direction. Go to San Seb and Pamplona though. Also go stay a night in a more rural town or village in the wine region.

Check out the Paradores for accommodation. Cracking value (well they were 15 years ago).

The old buildings we stayed in were fantastic. Check out if there are any in the Esentia bracket along your area.
