@Bandage- don’t listen to this fucking retard… climbing up and down a hill on the other side of the world just to see a bit of snow and to slide down it on two bits of plastic is the ideal holiday of a fucktard… imagine blowing about 3-4k on that… up the hill, down the hill , up the hill, down the hill… Jesus wept.
You are on the right track with South America, pal. Just do a bit of research.
Singing in, did Safari in Tanzania, climbed Kilimanjaro and then a week in Zanzibar. We did over Christmas / New Year. Weather was perfect for pasty Irish roasters. Don’t know what it’s like in August
Have you considered a Beijing/Hong Kong trip Bandage? Bit of culture in Beijing, do the wall, little cycle around the city, take in some acrobats, get a chicken curry half-rice half-chips. Then off to Hong Kong for a bit more western style life with the harbour, the theme parks, the shopping for the lady friend.
Africa has been ruled out on the basis friends of ours are doing a safari followed by beach/island honeymoon a few weeks after and we can’t steal their thunder apparently.
Australia got mentioned earlier. Over my dead body.
Far East interests me all right, @Rocko. Japan more than China though for some reason.
August is actually a shitty enough time to go on holiday outside Europe. Winter in the southern hemisphere, hurricanes in the Carribean…
Zanzibar, Tanzania, etc would be bit hot in August I’d say. Great trip though. Did something similar to @Fran. Keep it for the honeymoon. Stay away from Kenya, esp Nairobi or northern parts. Dangerous enough and now Al Quaida types threatening.
Argentina is class. It’d be damn cold down south in August though.
Not sure what the weather is like in South Africa or Thailand but I’d definitely recommend the two of those spots if you have a few weeks.
Going to Vancouver, Vancouver Island and taking in a trip through the rockies around whistler and Banff another option. .Beautiful spot but Canadian hotels, etc. a bit old fashioned.
I’d really like to go to Japan too, a friend of mine did a round the world trip there a few years back and said Japan, to his surprise, was the highlight of the trip*
