Holiday destinations for the lone traveller

Unbelievable scenes, guys. We’ve plumped for Africa, or South Africa to be more exact. It was established that the friend’s honeymoon was going to be in Tanzania, Victoria Falls, Maldives and some other places so we wouldn’t be stepping on any toes by going to Cape Town followed by a road trip inland on that Garden Route through the wine region, a bit more driving back down to the coast and then safari near Port Elizabeth. Spending a few days in Mauritius (cc @Gman) and then Dubai on the way home.

The scenery around Taormina is amazing but it will be jammed with tourists off the cruise ships in August. Even in June last year, the main sheet was constantly busy with human sheep following some gimp with a sign in case they got lost.
I spent a few nights in Syracuse and liked it. Not really a beach place but if you have a rental car, you’ve loads of options within 20 mins.
The old town in Ragusa was deadly too (Ryanair fly into Comiso now). In general, things are much more chilled down around the south/ south-east.
There are a good few islands off Sicily that are supposed to be pretty sweet also. Can’t think of the names now but a quick google will sort you out.

I poured my heart and soul into that thread on South America you bastard.

this thread is “Holiday destinations for the lone traveller”

We are all happy for you but you really need to start a “Where do I go on my first holiday with my new partner” thread.

@TheUlteriorMotive, the page seems to have developed into a general holiday destinations and advice thread quite a while back. If you have a problem with this I suggest you “flag” the offending posts for the moderators to deal with.

Phil, a quick glance at the map I posted above suggests you have just listed the three furthest possible towns from where I am flying to. While I appreciate the time it took to write the post, it was a complete waste of time, entirely unhelpful, and did you even read the question I asked in the first place FFS sakes. Regards, Glas.

South Africa is a beautiful country, pal. You will have a ball. Hope you like red meat and red wine

Rent a car you cunt of a man! It is the best way to see these kind of places and there are more roads in Sicily than there are on that shitty map you posted up

Well said, @glasagusban mate. Some of the chaps get unnecessarily perturbed about the evolvement of threads. I wouldn’t countenance any more than 7 days for a first holiday with a lady friend, but it doesn’t apply to me so I expect a full and frank apology from @TheUlteriorMotive.

Sorry, pal.

I hope you have a great time and don’t get car-jacked.

Apology accepted, mate.

That’s more like it.

Favignana which can be reached by hydrofoil from Trapani is meant to be a good spot.

Thanks Mull

South Africa is a beautiful country, bro. You will have a ball. Plus they drive on the left which will be handy for a novice like yourself. I hope you like meat. Because they love meat! Enjoy a braai, bro.

Many thanks for your fond regards, pal. Same to @Big_Dan_Campbell. I already have a couple of restaurants booked and look forward to sampling the MEAT.

Have you a spot picked for the proposal?

I’d suggest going cage diving with sharks and making the proposal just before entering the cage. The cage will serve as a handy metaphor for marriage and that’s bound to be an offer she can’t refuse.

If she does refuse and the humiliation proves too much, @Bandage will have the option of a quick out.
