You wouldn’t be pissing up against any whitewashed wall in frigiliana… Place is steeped in history and culture … One of the prettiest places in Europe…
It’s extremely quiet. I haven’t been there since 2018 but I’m pretty sure the pub on the beach re opened. It is beautiful though. Really tricky to get taxis out of Killarney too unless you’ve pre booked them.
Cappagh beach near Cloghane would be a quieter, smaller beach with rock pools and stuff that would be good for younger kids, might be a bit of a trek from Castlemaine though.
Thanks a million for all that. Boolteens was a bit of a shot in the dark to be honest. Was a lot cheaper than Killarney or Dingle which helped us decide!
Ah sure you can’t go wrong. While you are near very little you are close to everything. All those towns and villages around there are very tourist friendly.
The loop around Dingle is worth a spin as well. It’s just as nice as the ring of Kerry without the as much tourists. But you should be without the tourists on the ring of Kerry as well. If it’s open go for a pint in Brandon looking out over the sea. They do a mean toastie and chips and the Guinness is nate.
A pint in Tom Creans (South pole inn) in Annascaul worth a go as well for the pictures on wall. Paudie’s in Ventry the same and there’s a lovely beach in Ventry.
The biggest penny’s in the republic is in Tralee as well if you want to send the women off. There’s not much else there though. Croi restaurant is nice in there as well.
Fuck it I’ll have to go back myself now.
I wouldn’t be gone on Bantry itself but it’s a decent base for visiting deep W Cork and S Kerry. Handy enough spin to Kenmare. Or zip down to Baltimore and go to sherkin Island or Cape clear
