You’re a funny fella corncrake. not exactly funny haha, just funny really. shur I’m not even contributing here, just sitting back and chuckling. Keep up the good work!

Players have announced that they will be holding a press conference dealing with the issues that have arisen from McCarthy and the CB’s statement.

The impression i got Pukey from one of the lads is that the Hurlers from 2008 still believe something will happen, and Cadogan is one of these. I think the footballers may be standing off for a while so as to avoid any confrontations with the hurlers down the road. I don’t know the guy, but people say he’s a very good guy, with very much his own head, so i wouldn’t be surprised if he was one to jump ship to the Hurling 209 version. Thats pure speculation on my part though.
Cork have a serious amount of guys fighting for places on even making the Football training panel, there will be some very good footballers left out, so maybe not been involved in the process as it is now could mean he’d be well down the football order anyway. Not from a talent point of view, but just Counihan seems like a very fair operator and i couldn’t see him dropping someone like say Kevin Harrington who going for corner back, is 21, is from a football club and is never likely to jump back to hurling. And is playing in McGrath Cup etc at the moment.

What the hell has that got to do with this thread?

Thread is about the Cork saga.
The press conference will be adding to the saga.

Why would MGG ever simply clarify what’s going on when she can speak in riddles and have people virtually chasing around looking for an explanation?

This is it I assume

ALL THE clubs in Cork have been written to by Cloyne GAA club and urged to discuss a motion to change voting procedures on important GAA matters, ahead of next Tuesday’s first county board meeting of the year.
The Cloyne GAA club has issued a circular to all clubs throughout the county looking for their support on an amendment of the rules in Cork, which would prevent any vote of significance being taken on the night of a board meeting.
There has been criticism of the Cork County Board’s voting system in recent years, and controversial votes to remove an inter-county manager’s right to pick his own selectors back in 2007, and to re-appoint Gerald McCarthy last October, were taken without club delegates being given a chance to speak to their own club officers.
The East Cork club of hurlers Donal g Cusack, Diarmuid O’Sullivan and new chairman Jerry O’Sullivan want any important issues to be discussed by clubs around the county in depth before delegates cast their votes at the next meeting.
There is a specific reference in Cloyne’s motion to the current Cork hurling crisis, and they want to prevent any vote being taken on the dispute, without delegates seeking direction from their own club members. The letter from the Cloyne club has been signed by club secretary Sean Motherway, and it states:
“We would urge your club to discuss the motion and would ask you to support it either through your division or delegate when voted upon. “We hope this will address a fundamental defect in the running of our organisation within Cork.”
Responding to the latest development today, Cork County Board PRO Ger Lane told the Evening Echo that the matter will be discussed by the Board Executive prior to the next Tuesday’s meeting.
Meanwhile, the Cork hurlers are expected to hold their press conference on the current crisis this Monday evening in a Cork city hotel.
The new-look 2009 Cork hurling panel will first take on Limerick in a challenge match in Mallow this Sunday at 2.30pm

in fairness this is pretty clear.

MGG congratulates Caomhin for his foresight in telling us all there was to be a coup against Frank Murphy, charman of the Cork CB.

Probably being thick here but how does this equate to a coup? How was the voting structure keeping FM in power?
Would the Cork County Board just spring motions from the top table that had to be voted on there and then? Surely there was some form of advance agenda on the issues that are going to be discussed at an upcoming meeting?

If it wasn’t Cloyne it would be someone else. I actually think it’s a bad thing it’s Cloyne. Everyone outside the club is going to presume it is been driven by Donal Og, which apparently isn’t necessarily the case. Cloyne would be full of equally tough minded individuals, Donal Og is only holding the torch in that respect. Whats very interesting is Jerry O’ Sullivan is the new CB Chairman, father of the Sullys. How must he feel about all this.
Fair play to them though, something like this is long overdue. If it’s discussed in the clubs then you totally avoid the clown of a delegate rowing in with the CB on everything.

I firmly believe the real club members don’t really get their say, nor do they agree with the way things are done.

Yes basically that was it, or they would deliberately delay votes if they thought they weren’t going to win a vote.
