Humphries on the Cork saga

Why would Mallow need publicity for their grounds?

I would have thought that was obvious, to make people aware of it and get the punters in to use the facilities. The place is like a Premership club, bigger than Nemo by a fair bit. They need to rent out a lot of stuff to pay the wages of the staff, which at a guess would be at about 20, minimum.

amateur organisation? huh?

Not so sure I buy into that. Anyone in Mallow that would need facilities would already know its there. I’d imagine they’re renting them out to make money for themselves. Not sure I agree with a Club of the organisation going against their County Board either, irregardless of their position.

There is no way the CCB went anywhere near the Mallow boys.

A N Other might have done a bit of sly bitching “I’ll remember this” shite and its coming out as a bit of Mallow GAA rattling.

If there’s a PM going I’ll take one as well.

I’ll take a PM too please.

I don’t see this Mallow thing as a big deal from the outside. If the Cork County Board have requested that one of their member clubs cease allowing a renogade bunch of players use their facilities then that’s their prerogative.

Are Mallow a senior club in Cork?..what are they better known for hurling or football?

I’ll have a PM too…

no need

Apparently there’s an embarrassing tape of Ger and his trophies; its supposed to make Surfs Up’s Tank and his ladies look like a Kim & Aggie demo.

Can I’ve a PM too if there’s one going, thanks

Cheers MGG, if you don’t mind you might give that to me in English as well?

The current squad hammered by Portumna by 2-2 over the weekend. Reading the match report it could have been much worse.

Surfs Up is an animated movie about Surfing. The big baddie is a lad called Tank, and he gets off by cuddling up to his trophies; he calls him his Laaaaaaaaddiiies. (in a Barry White accent) Most of the cast are penguins.

Now Ger McCarthy makes trophies for a living, he could easily have put together the one on your mam’s telly that you got for being 2nd runner up in the u-9’s fancy dress in Butlins.

Apparently the PRC have a tape of Ger getting carried away with the “ladies golf” samples in the shop window.

PM here too

Good lad/lady/whatever - makes sense now.

Ahoy Dan .I’ll take a pm on that asweell.

PM here as well, if you don’t mind.

No offence, but thats a load of cock. People from all over Cork use those facilities. They are running a business, there is a gym, creche, all that sort of activity going on. They are not answerable as a business to the CCB. And the affairs of the GAA club are dealt with seperately. There is a good chance that the person who took the booking has nothing whatsoever to do with the GAA.

Are the lads paying for the use of the facilities?

Those of us who have taken the players side on this (and on this site, that amounts to maybe one or two posters) have long acknowledged that the full picture has not been on view here. The breadth of comments from the full panel last week is a good indicator of valid reasons why things are so strongly felt. This will play out in time, maybe the tide of opinion is changing, maybe its not, but at least it might move discussion away from the ‘players are bad/fags etc’ ‘GAA is good’ numbskullery so plentiful here (and on AFR too but less so).
heard a few things over the weekend, which if true put a fair different slant on the situation, in the players favour.

Im sure you know what Im talking about kev being located in Cork fulltime?
