Hunting & other rural pursuits

I don’t understand your point, they were organised. You felt the campaign should have been more off the cuff?

I personally sympathise fairly heavily with rural communities, but I’ve found the RISE campaign to be an absolute farce. They’ve yet to offer any even remotely convincing argument as to the ‘threat’ to rural Ireland. And on that count, their arrogance in assuming they are representing anything more than a minority of people who engage in these pursuits has been breathtaking.

Ultimately, the weakness in their arguments is best illustrated by their increasing personal attacks on members of the Green Party, and their backward, ignorant characterizations of the people who support them.

My point was no more than if population control is required, dressing up like 18th century landlords and ploughing through fields with packs of dogs is hardly an efficient means of achieving it.

In all fairness the anti hunting crowd didn’t cover themselves in glory either with their portrayal of the pro hunting people as blood thirsty monsters

indeed.
clearly this has nothing to do with population control, so what is it about?
presumably he isn’t trying to extend animal welfare protection to just 1 deer?

just watched the rabble in the dail, (and aside from the pathetically incoherent standard of representative in general), what annoys me is gormley’s naturally smug, condescending, intolerant attitude

thats the view the majority of people have

Both sets of stereotypes probably have some truth in them.

The point is though, that the pro-hunt crowd couldn’t defend the hunt on it’s own merits.

Possibly because they can’t defend it, or possibly because they thought slandering the greens and inventing a false ‘town vs country’ dichotomy would win them the support of people who ultimately, couldn’t give a fuck about hunting.

At the end of the day this has zero effect on my day to day life…so I ask the question: who gives a fuck???

It’s as defensible as horse racing. The casualty rate is probably less than the sport of kings.

You say the pro hunt lobby couldn’t defend the hunt on its merits. The Greens couldn’t condemn it on its merits either. They added in this road safety bogus concern yet there’s no such concern for people hitting deer in the Phoenix Park.

Agreed they hadn’t a fucking clue how to make a legimate arguement for stag hunting, they would have had better chance with the cultural arguement.

There is a town V country divide WTB, it’s everything from planning laws to transport anf NO I DON’T INCLUDE THE DRINK DRIVING LAWS IN THAT

You might have a Limerick address yet puke

i believe it’s called the “enda kenny manoeuvre”

I know lads in the planning dept. of Limerick council who say Meelick, Parteen, and Clonlara’s incorporation into Limerick is as good as done.

A collection to buy the Puke a limerick Jersey and flag needed here.
Will the county boundries be changed for elections hurling etc

Nice one, there will finally be a bit of competition for Adare in the hurling

How come ye never got a RISE campaign going to fight this menace Puke? Divided ye fall.

I do.

Meelick and Parteen people are like the bloods and the crips. Clonlara people are too educated to talk to either of them.

The root of the issue here is the residence of the people who run Limerick in Cratloe. With Clonlara gone they will rule the rest of us with an iron fist.

SS** i don’t buy into these boundaries set up by the brits and implemented by pencil pushers…The river is the boundary in the Puke household and that’s the way it will stay…Coonagh is very much part of Clare be the way
