Thereā€™s a wagtail bird flying into the window either side of my front door, which Iā€™d imagine is because he is attempting to fight with his reflection. (An old piseĆ³g is that such an occurrence signifies an oncoming death in the house :open_mouth:).

The little bollocks is destroying the front door step and glass with bird shit in the process, which has being going on for the last week and a half. Any advice as to how to deter him other than resorting to a shotgun or sticking a thumb up my hole?

Have you tried using a shotgun AND shoving your thumb up your hole?

The father had this problem at home. He had an old stuffed pheasant so he put that at the window and it seems to have worked.

Little fucker was making shit of the window and windowsill

Tack up some garden netting around the outside of the window until he fucks off and finds another window.

A reflective one of these yokes hung up might do the trick as well

Your grand thatā€™s only if itā€™s a robin.

Iā€™d say close the curtain/blind so itā€™s not a mirror for him.

Edit I see itā€™s a door. Maybe some of that plastic sheeting that makes it hard to see through or something

Cover the glass inside (black plastic).
Borrow crowbanger.
Review life insurance.
Sell house.

Wonā€™t putting black inside make it more like a mirror. Perhaps just turn on a light.

Iā€™d a robin in last week. How long have I left.

Is there no roof on the house?

There is. Iā€™d say he slipped in the open back door. Heā€™s a friendly enough fellow, always out in the garden when Iā€™m around. Looking for a morsel. Iā€™d get worried if heā€™s not around, but they only live for about three years so itā€™s probably not the same fellow all the time. Heā€™s a friendly enough fellow, I couldnā€™t see him being the bearer of bad news*.

*The day after my brother in Galway text me that his mother in law died.

They often are catching moths on the sides of buildings.

I saw my first red squirrel in over 20 year last week.

East or west of the Shannon?

East of lough Derg

I saw one on in the woods just west of oughterard. Thereā€™s a website where youā€™re asked to report sightings

Didnā€™t know that at all. Saw one in Dromoland out golfing a couple of weeks ago.

I saw a couple of them in Wicklow last week.
