Of only the cork lads had accepted their relegation all this fuss could have been avoided
Aye. They made a right show of themselves there
He won an intermediate all ireland with Antrim.Waterford hadnât won a sausage since 1963 before Justin arrived.Under Justin Waterford won 3 munster titles and a league title.
There was some fella on Matt Cooper on Friday evening going on about how important the league was and how it is a good indicator of how the championship will pan out. He used Donegal as an example in the football.
He neglected to mention that the two teams who contested the division 1 hurling relegation play-off also contested the all-Ireland final. I was waiting for Cooper to call him up on it but he probably didnât even know this, the stupid cunt.

Donegal as an example of what?
The league is bull shit. Any competition that you experiment in shows what you think of it. Individual teams take it seriously from time to time but every team doesnât all the time. The provincials are the same now. Cork and Kerry experimenting and not risking players with knocks says it all for me.
If the GAA get into bed with Sky then I can see down the line them telling the lads âhey listen, you guys need to streamline these competitions, this shit is marketableâ. The GAA will see dollar signs and there will be re-structuring across the board. Might be a good thing, but it could be a disaster too.

the GGA championship games are lucky to get 200,000 viewers most of the time, why would Sky bother?
To get 200,000 subscriptions I suppose.
200,000 free to air viewers would equate to 5000 subscription viewers
I know you had a less than privileged upbringing but we didnât have to get 40 people to chip in to get the tv turned on.
If it is this TV rights deal or the next the mood music (and GPA focus on USA) suggests a move to follow the money in TV rights will happen. Ultimately that means a subscription based station. if you can get GAA into homes in the USA there is a big market there just from Irish

Agreed. There needs to be more games and regular games so. Champions league type structure will evolve. Dublin will split in two as money is chased.

As an example of a team that didnât take it seriously and suffered in the championship because of it
He was the marketing director of the Gaa who knows jack shit about the sports. Cork and Clare were in the relegation final of the hurling.
there isnt a market for it in Ireland mate, nevermind overseas
Good point
Kerry dispell that with any number of their All Irelandâs.
Whatâs the story with these quarter-finals?
3rd and 4th in 1A play 1st and 2nd in 1B I presume?

The GAA should stay the fuck away from Sky.
Ya but they are greedy, an sky have money.
Theyâve been offered big sums of money before and refused them because they want to keep their games free to air so this comment is completely unjustified.
