One other observation on KK. It’s a bit early to be writing them up as All Ireland champions based on yesterday. They always play out of their skins against Tipp especially in Nolan park. So you tend to get a false read on where KK are if you focus on the Tipp games. Pundits fell into that trap twice last year. In reality they’ve entered a phase of long slow decline which will be punctuated by the odd hammering of Tipp but which will otherwise be gloomy enough.

I’d agree and I was surprised at Mullane talking them up so much on the radio yesterday.

Undoubtedly they’re going to be thereabouts but a few of them (Larkin, Walsh, Shefflin) are showing signs of creaking a bit and Cody is noticeably blooding more players than usual in the League so far. Granted, a squad of their quality may only need 1 or 2 players a season to come through but it’s far too early to judge them.

Just got a first look at the Tipp game there now and Tipp’s first 3 goals all came off bad errors, as did the last KK one. A lot of possession was turned over easily by both teams and use of the ball was poor at times. Callinan had one of his good days but is just as capable of going out next time and having a stinker.

Tipperary have put themselves under a lot of pressure to deliver this year and, so far, I haven’t seen a whole pile to be terrified of.

Numerous cowardly off the ball incidents, the guy was just a sneaky and dirty hurler. A much-discussed-on-this-forum sports journalist highlighted a number of incidents in his column following the 2007 final. I won’t go beyond that, suffice to say I find him an intensely dislike able character.
