Spare a thought for athletics and the lads training 14 times a week for 10k a year in government grants. Training a lot harder than a Clare hurler as well.
Sport should be more than about money but the demands of the inter county game mean only teachers and students can play it. Very few jobs allow somebody to knock off at 4.30pm 3 times a week to go training.
Good point about people in athletics. They train incredibly hard and donât get anywhere near the recognition that most intercounty players get. I guess the other side of it is that in an individual sport you have more flexibility and control over your own training, and over your own life by extension. GAA players are at the mercy of a manager who can change their schedule on a whim and dictate to them what training they have to do. In that respect, itâs very different.
Our ladâs will shove the two fingers up to the critics this year!Seamie Harnedy will have the game of his life.Hoggie, Conor Lehane, Jamie Coughlan, Stephen Moylan, and Pa Cronin will do all the damage in the forwards.Christopher Joyce will be the main man in a dominant half back line and Anthony Nash will dispatch a few rockets to the net!If this Cork team just goes out there and plays proper Cork hurling then they will win.I respect Waterford but i donât fear them.I donât mean to disrespect Waterford but i would be of the view that a well prepared Cork team will always beat Waterford.Waterfords minor all ireland win is already getting to the players heads and the Waterford public have totally lost the run of themselves with the celebrations. That Waterford minor team will end up the same way as the three in a row Limerick u21 team! Were a Cork team we just donât fear anyone!
Not counting on any of those minors for them to beat Cork. Waterford have a much much better spine and properly prepared are open to massive improvement on last year
Cork also have massive scope for improvement.Last years experience will stand to the players and Paudie OâSullivan will be back.Cork have a far superior forward line.I would agree that Waterford would have a better half back line but Cork have better players in every other line of the field.Cork do have promising half back options and William Egan can still come good.A half back line of McLoughlin Joyce and one out of Cadogan/Egan/Jamie Nagle would do a fine job.
After the league game this year and last years Munster final, is there not a strong chance that cork will shit themselves when they see the green jersies again?

In fairness Cork gave a much better account of themselves against the new greatest team of all time in both all ireland finals than Limerick did in their semi final against the same opposition!
Your over rating the cork forwards , Moylan, and Coughlan donât look up to it, neither is Egan. Joyce is improving but no game winner, doesnât control his defence at all. Waterford will tie them up easily enough I feel, Cadogan is s failed hurler and still no sign of Walsh. Cork are just very easy to score against , that type of side never wins championships
