McDonagh!
Would he want it/get it?
There is a big step up from club to I/C and given that Quaid was shafted and Ryan ran out of it last year and Leo OāConnor wonāt get it it looks as though it will have to be another outside man. Kinnerk is an option but I would assume he would much rather continue to coach/train as oppose to manage at this point in time
The year isnāt over yet you cunt of a man, but if I was pushed to give an answer Iād say Daly as manager with Joe Quaid and Kinnerk as selectors and another.
They must be the only cunts using Cork airport now.
Ahā¦ I dunno. He was a selector with minors so knows those players well and is going well with club but it may be too big right nowā¦ But iād say Kinnerk will be brought in with whoever it is. Who is there outside the county?
The limerick county board appear to want a big name manager with a reputation or cv all the time. Seem to be always courting OāGrady, Sheedy, English. Daly would be just their type. Heād probably do an alright job, but I wouldnāt pick him. Iām not sure he has shown anything exceptional as a manager.
Ryan did a great job last year in half a year and itās a bit premature to call for his head after one bad championship game. He has to show something to suggest heās the guy to bring us forward though because there are a lot of guys coming on stream that will push for a place next year. He has two knowledgeable guys with him in Beary and Downes. Itās their first year in charge as a group after OāGrady walked. Having heard about how the Clare u21 managers learned from mistakes and improved things and seen how Galway stuck with Cunningham and seem to have come good (a very questionable example I know) Iād be inclined to give Teege and co another year. In fairness, the panel for the league was pretty sparse and we were dogged by injury in the early rounds.
I still think Carey would do a wonderful job, but I think heād need someone like Kinnerk with him. John Kiely the former selector and current intermediate manager is probably the standout candidate.
TJ deserves to see out the year after last years championship and the loyalty he showed to the players and Limerick hurling in general which is well documented, but it is shit or get off the pot time for himself and a number of the senior Limerick panelists now if we donāt up it big time.
Like it or not, anything but a semi-final appearance will be seen as a failure this year glas, and at the moment I donāt see us getting there. That will be the County Boards opinion at the end of year review.
TJ made a bollox of the 21 job. We had two good performances last year other than Wexford and that was Tipp and KK and we lost the latterā¦ this was the year to hit the ground running. A number of fresh players should have been brought in to shake it up and challenge more established players. Itās being said that the league was taken serious, what ever about not getting out of it all they did was bate ball down on top of their FF line all league- what the fuck is that about? It should have been used to establish certain plans/ tactics for days ahead and to get lads playing to a system - instead we hadnāt a fucking clue what we are at for both games this year. Fitness has also been a disaster this yearā¦ It seems to me like Teege was just hoping it would all fall right and weād just up it on the days in question. So the whole year has been a disater, not just one game, mate. Weāve regressed massively.
Two players have been added to the starting line up, a few more got a good few runs in the league. Some others were hampered by injury. What other new players should have been used? Like or not the panel is sparse enough. Next year 2 more of the recent minors should make the step up, Lynch and ALTC. Morrisseyx2, Nash, Byrnes, oāconnell, maybe a few more have potential, a few others two but weād be lucky if we got one more new player Iād say.
Iām saying he should get next year too. Thereās no outstanding candidate to step in IMO (unless someone brings Kinnerk on board) so why not give the guys in situ a chance to learn and improve rather than jumping to another unknown quantity.
If doing half paced figure of 8ās is flying.
No pep to training at all. Dead men walking.
You calling a Wexford win on July 4th?
Put your mortgage on it.
Who suggested he shouldnāt? Changing a manager mid championship would be ludicrous
It absolutely would be madness, and it wonāt happen I donāt think but Daly being around the Limerick hurling scene has certain people talking.
Dempsey, Dave Maloney, Byrnes, Finn, OāConnell would have been worth testing during the league among others.
Has any team ever changed manager mid championship since the introduction of the back door?
Yes. Guess who?
2006 -
I think weāre clutching at straws there. Next year for a few of them maybe but weāll be lucky if many make the step up. Lynch can be added, and Byrnes or ALTC the next most likely Iād say. After that thereās a host we could try but how many are ready to step up and dislodge someone out of a jersey is questionable.
